My SIL is pregnant and picky, and she won't eat ham, any other pork products or lamb. Most beef dishes that I've seen for Easter have bacon or sausage incorporated, and I'm not willing to replace bacon with turkey bacon (aka turkey LIES). I don't want to eat roast chicken because I am so fucking sick of roast chicken. I need some help coming up with an entree. PLEASE HELP ME. Because I really just want to make a ham wrapped in bacon and tell her to eff off.
I would make ham & throw a chicken breast for her in the oven during the end of the ham's cooking time. Easy, still accommodating, and you get pork wrapped in more pork.
Ooh, we could get salmon from Pike Place Market. I also approve of the dill creme fraiche, ChillyMcFreeze.
I make lasagna with Italian sausage, so that one's out. I have not seen Cornish game hens 'round these parts, but I have a sneaking suspicion SIL would say nope to that idea.
I can't make ham in the crockpot because she doesn't want pork products in her house. Good times.
That is super annoying. I had terrible meat aversions during pregnancy but I just avoided meat myself. Sometimes it sucked but that's life.
Anyway, how about Beef Tenderloin (http://jennysteffens.blogspot.com/2013/12/slow-roasted-beef-tenderloin-holiday.html) or Roasted Chicken with Lemon, Rosemary, and Olives (http://jennysteffens.blogspot.com/2014/04/roasted-chicken-with-lemon-rosemary_8.html). All of her recipes are so good!
I can sort of get on board with this. Certain food smells made me terribly nauseated when I was pregnant, to the point that I basically couldn't take it.
That said, I still think she should suck it up for Easter.
