I had a bout of it several years back, it sucks and I'm sorry. Rest sand Danskos helped. There is a blog called Barking Dogs Shoes with lots of other ideas. Feel better.
I had it when I was running a lot. Sometimes, doing the stretches (you can find them online) before I stood up first thing in the morning/after being seated for a long time helped. I also got new running shoes and that made a difference. Sorry you are dealing with this. It stinks.
Yes I had it really bad. I put those heel inserts in my shoes and that helped a lot.
ETA: def sounds like PF. I used to have to walk on the outside edge of my foot in the morning because I could not put weight on it. Flats are bad for it and that's basically what I wore 24/7.
I'm an orthotist and so I see plenty of patients with PF.
* Get an off the shelf orthotic with a rigid shell that offers good support under your arch. Good brands: Superfeet, Spenco, Lynco, Aetrex, ArchRival. Some people get relief from gel heel pads. I'd generally steer clear of Dr. Scholls
* You could try a night stretching splint that you wear at night to keep your ankle in 90 degrees
* Do stretches that stretch out your calves
* Freeze a 20oz water bottle. Then roll your arch over the frozen water bottle... it both stretches the arch/fascia and ices it at the same time.
I can try to post links later... for some reason my internet is goofy and google isn't working right for me right now.
See if you have any special stores around you. I go to the Walking Store here and they will analyze your feet and get you good inserts that aren't too pricey. They may even have shoes that fit, and they do have a website. My parents have a store called Foot Solutions that is awesome too. I have terrible flat feet and PF that only got worse after breaking my leg. I can only wear good shoes, never heels, and only flip flops with arches. It sucks, but you may be able to find a store that works.
I have it too, especially my right foot. I only wear Clarks & Redwing Shoes. Redwings are the best for standing on concrete. I also second New Balance. For stretches, the best one I have ever done is using your toes to scrunch up a towel. I even do the scrunch toes in my shoes when I'm desperate! Hope it feels better!!!!
I have one of those splints that you wear at night. It's super annoying but really helps. It was about 20 bucks or so at Target in the pharmacy area. For me, it's all about good arch support in shoes. Wearing Toms makes it act up. Do the stretches before getting out of bed, those help a ton too.
Unfortunately, PF is one of those things that is different for every person and there isn't one treatment that works for everyone. Some people get relief from trying one thing, some people have to do a combo of few of the treatments, and there are some people where nothing works
As far as the hydrofeet insoles.... I've never heard of them or seen them, so I can't give an opinion on that. A lot of the time with plantar fasciitis, you need the firm support under the arch, rather than the cushion or gel - it's hard to tell if these have any rigidity to them or not.
Brooks are also generally very good shoes too, so if you have those and they're comfortable, wear 'em. Sounds like a good excuse to buy new clothes to match the shoes if they don't match well!

Super weird. I've had a flare up in the past few days. DH had it bad in his right foot. Everything he tried did nothing. He ended up having surgery to cut the tendon (or is it a ligament? ) They told us that it corrects it 99% of the time. Guess who was in the 1%. He still gets pain from time to time from it.
I have a mix of Plantar Fasciitis and tendonitis on my calves and extremely tight hamstrings... Apparently it's all very much related.
Does your insurance cover physical therapy? Nothing was helping me and I only have gone for 1 month and it's helping SO MUCH. The stretches they've given me are a lifesaver. I can give you more info if you are not able to go to PT on what my stretching/exercise regimen is, maybe it will help. PM me if you want. Hugs! Mine was absolutely horrible and I was super depressed. For now though - definitely do some rest, ice and heat if you haven't already. Put a sock with rice in it in the microwave and see if that helps.
My mom has to see the foot doctor for hers. She got special insoles made and has to buy special shoes. She's a nurse and on her feet all days so she doesn't have another choice.
I supposedly have it, but I only have arch pain and no heel pain. Have you thought about a cortisone injection? I'm supposed to try this but am chicken. A friend who has it says a combo of an injection and proper shoes and orthotics have made a huge difference for her.
I mostly have ball of foot issues but have had PF/heel pain in the past. The frozen water bottle and calf stretches really help. Yoga downward dog is a great stretch. Also do you have "the stick"? I find this helpful for rolling out calves and shins though a foam roller can work as well. I just seem to struggle to foam roll my lower legs so I like the stick for that.
Good luck this can be a horrible injury! I had some earlier in pregnancy and I would just simply not be able to walk because of the stabbing heel pain. Felt like someone was sticking a knife in there

Some insurance companies will cover the PT, but it usually depends on the company and level of coverage. You should look into bfst www.kingbrand.com/Plantar_Fasciitis_Treatment.php?REF=39PV1 I started using this after 4 months of too many bar tending shifts. Works great and with better shoes, has really made a difference. My insurance did not cover it, but I only have basic level coverage.
I have this as well I use thenight splint, stretches, and picked up a pair of ORthaheel Flip Flops (Im in FL) And LOVE the shoes... I've been on a hunt for regular shoes from them but 12s are hard to find.. they do make shoe inserts as well so I might pick some of those up...
The best thing I found for Plantar Fasciitis is a blood flow stimulator and cold compression packs from King Brand. I tried everything from orthotics to stretches to splints. The orthotics helped a little, the stretching made it worse but these products saved my life. Their site explains that PF is from overstretching the plantar and that you don’t want to stretch it at all, the best way to recover is to rest the foot, keep inflammation down and stimulate blood flow to it. I recommend checking out this link www.kingbrand.com/Plantar_Fasciitis_Treatment.php?REF=52PV1, my insurance covered it as well which helped
