So after reading this thread I think I want a ring sling. I have a becco Gemini but want something that is quick to use if I just need to run into the store, at 13 weeks the car seat is already a pain to carry. I am 6 ft tall, any recommendations?

I'm 5'10, T-shirt size medium, and an 80" RS is very long on me, down to my knee. It was helpful when I wanted some privacy nursing a newborn, and that kind of length would be helpful if you're daring enough to do a back carry in a RS. If you're average build, I would suggest something around 75", which is SBP's medium. The Little Frog 1.7m RS = 66, which would probably be too short for comfort on me. The 2m RS = 78". When in doubt, err on the longer side because you can shorten it later if you decide you don't need the extra length.
Thanks.. When looking at them online, I also saw pouches at some of the sites- which would be better/ easier. And are you still able to nurse in the sling after newborn stage?

After all the drama over the toddler Tula I bought from the B/S/T FB page it finally arrived!! I checked the postage and the seller mailed it 2wks after she claimed she did. Pretty sure that was why she "lost" the tracking number! Ugh!
Anyways I love it!!! My Mei tai and Ergo were getting too uncomfy with DS and he is up/down so much the wraps get annoying sometimes! I've only used it around the house since both kids are sick but I can't wait to give it a good test run at the zoo next week . Here is DS and DD in it for comparison (DS is 25lbs and 33.5in.....DD is 35lbs and appx 39in)
For those who know the Tula, when would be appropriate to consider the toddler over the standard?
DS is a tall boy (29.5in at 9mo appointment). He also used to be high in the weight percentile, but that seems to have gone down now that he's mobile. He was 19.5lb at the 9mo appointment.
We have the Boba 3g, but he almost already seems a little tall for it to be comfortable. I can't afford both a standard and toddler, so I'm wondering if it would be prudent to buy a toddler so he could grow with it. Or will he be way too small for it?

My guy is 25lbs and 33.5in and I think he would do fine in a standard since the toddler one is slightly big for him (you can see how tall it is on him in my pic above).
I'd get a standard (especially since kids usually slow down in growth after a year) and if needed you could always trade/sell for a toddler one down the line!

Thank you! It's helpful to know your son's stats along with the picture!
We took out our new (used) backpack carrier today and it was a huge success. It's a Kelty 2.1 that was made in 2008 but in great shape. I didn't see any backpack carriers in this thread but I think this model may be the best option for us. SO much storage and no discomfort at all. B was a carrier hater prior to this but he happily rode in this all through town today.
I shipped my Amitola off to Poland (!) today to be converted into a half buckle MT. I'm soooo excited. It will be fully reversible, have padded to wrap straps, and a hood with bear ears. Eeep.
What company is doing your conversion?
Madame GooGoo. I love her stuff and it's reasonably priced and well-reviewed.
My 45 inch, 43lb., 4.5 year old in a preschool size Kinderpack on the way home from the little league parade, where she walked over a mile. We don't wear her much anymore, but it was a busy day, and I didn't want to lug her scooter around when she wasn't using it.
35 inches, 28lb., almost 2 year old, in a Bamberoo standard deluxe (I posted it before, but I like this picture)

Did you have to wait for a custom slot? All the other companies I looked at for conversions have auctions (OMG so expensive!) or long waiting lists or those fast finger custom draws.
I don't have a solid plan to convert anything, but I'm half-ass considering converting Cogs to a full buckle. I adore the hemp blend as a wrap as it's so amazingly soft and comfy, I think I actually like it more than my linen blend, but H will eventually benefit from a toddler sized carrier if he's not going to wrap.
Not really. I emailed her first at the end of January, and got a response that they could do it at the end of February (which is fine, because you have to ship to Poland). I decided to wait a bit, emailed mid-April, and they said they could give me a slot in early May. Part of the reason I'm going with her is because the customs process seems so freaking crazy for a lot of other converters. But also, I really like her stuff--it's very neat and I've heard only great things about them.
LMK if you want me to forward you her email about pricing structure. It's not cheap, but it's not as bad as I anticipated either.

Thanks for sharing this. Friends gave us their gently used (looks to me like never used) Kelty, which I'm planning to take on our family vacation in July. I'm hoping that some of the other males may carry him around in this manly carrier. LOL.
If you don't mind my asking, since ours is still in the attic, is it tough to adjust say from you to your husband wearing it?

Not at all. I've only worn it once but H has worn it a few times so I just let him put it on me and as far as I can recall we just tightened up the waist a bit.
I'm thinking about a Tula so I am marking this for further reading
I can spam this thread with a ton more pictures of my tulas just say the word (my youngest will be 7 months on Friday so your LO's age).
Yes please. DS is a really tiny guy so I'm thinking of going with the standard since he won't fit the toddler. Has anyone bought the conversion kit to go from standard to toddler?

I would go with the standard. It should fit him well into toddlerhood. We are currently using a too big carrier with my son(we bought it for my daughter) and it just isn't as supportive as it should be.
