I just talked to the PM on the project (he called to find out WTF was going on) and I explained it to him and he agrees with me. It's also been decided I will no longer be talking to the owner.
I wonder how many times that PM has had to make this same phone call. Poor guy.
True, though before construction started he was very responsive. I guess I just feel like it was all a show to get our money and now he's showing his true colors.
You only paid a deposit though, right? He's still owed money upon completion?
yes, he gets payments at different levels of completion. I just feel like once we signed the contract he was done with us.

Glad to hear you were able to talk to someone. Too bad M, who sounds like the owner isn't great at communicating with his clients.
To answer your earlier question, no I wouldn't have just let it be until the project was completed. I would have contacted someone else at the company after 3-4 days with no response from M. I would have nicely said that you were having trouble touching base with M & asked if they could follow up.

Yep, tried this too. We couldn't get anyone from the office to respond to us.

So in general their customer service just sucks, that's too bad especially since it sounds like they have good contractors.
I find that contractors she things differently. I found mine acouple of years ago working down the street when I was told he would be at my house working. I confronyed and they where at my house every morning before I left and every afternoon when I go home. I believe they where doing it as a show because I complained but work was moving veeeery slow. I think they where working down the road when I was not around. So one day I took off to go to a funeral and they had the gall to ask me when I was going to work that day. I told them I was not..... I also took off another day for the last day of school and when to town like normal and came back 1 hour later and they where mad again. The contractor and I were both when the job was done, he siad they had to work lots of jobs to keep the money going. I told him if he would complete one before going to another the money would flow also. I held his check until the last second.......
This is prime building season and contractors are not interested in "small" jobs. The best time to get a small job done is winter. Did you try the phone in your attempts to reach the contractor or their office? Most contractors carry a cell phone with them -- and they are not in their physical office much during the day.

Yes, every call went to vm and no messages were returned. I realize they aren't always interested in small jobs, that's fine (even though the PM in charge of my project told me they were). What isn't fine is him not responding to me.
