It sorta feels too soon, but maybe not, so H and I are kind of dipping our toe in the water and looking around. We found this one today
I messaged the rescue to see if we could meet her. She looks a lot like Lola, but there is something else about her that I can't put my finger on. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to meet her!
As a side note, it looks like the whole litter of these puppies are at this rescue, and they're all named after characters in The Hunger Games series. This one's name is Glimmer. She has littermates named Rue, Effie, Primrose, Mags, etc. laurenpetro

She looks very much like Lola. If you feel up for looking at the puppy, I would go for it. You may decide that right now is not a good time or you might decide that this is the puppy for you. Hugs and best of luck with the decision.
Thanks. I don't want to hijack the thread, and I rarely post. But this freaking blows. Gpointewife, feel free to commiserate with me.
That puppy is freaking adorable. Hope it works out!! What a little snuggle bunny.
mmp, big hugs to you. I still miss Lola. I even looked for her at the end of the bed just this morning and had to remember. It's really hard. I've told my H that I want a dog, but that I *really* just want my dog back. There are even things that get you out of the blue, like the other day the UPS driver delivered a package. Lola had a serious hate on for the UPS guy. She would lose.her.mind. when she heard the truck (from all the way down the street). When he came to the door to drop off the package my mom answered and he commented how he didn't hear the dog...and she had to tell him. Things like that hit you harder than you think they will. Give it some time. We don't even know if it's the right time for us yet. We'll see.
Glimmer isn't available until April 26. The rescue that is adopting her out isn't accepting applications for the litter until then. So, if we want her, we have to drive about an hour on April 26 to meet her. If it's meant to be, then we will have her, if not, well, then she wasn't our dog and we will find our dog eventually.
laurenpetro, she is German Shepherd mix. That's what Lola was, too. It looks like her litter mates are a bit different, like their ears don't look like they'd stand up, but Glimmer's look like they will. Trust, though, her name will change. H isn't about to let a dog of his be named Glimmer, lol!

Thanks so much. Sadly, this isn't my first rodeo with putting one of my babies to sleep. Hard to get my mind to settle since I'm so used to racing home to take care of him etc. In time, another dog in need will find me. I usually start keeping my ear out for one after about three months. Shepherd mixes are the best. I will never have any other kind of dog. That's what my last three were. I hear ya on everything you said. I want my freaking dog back! My best to you. Hope to see another little one in your future posts.
