I posted awhile ago about help with shots and you guys had great advice. Just curious if other Lovenox people late in pregnancy (I'm 32 weeks) are having to start non stress tests. Next week I have to start doing them 2x a week and I feel really overwhelmed by it. Anyone else have to do this? Was told its bc I'm on blood thinners and standard.
I happened to have one earlier this week for all-day long pain and decreased fetal movement, but all was fine. It was only for 20 minutes and I was in a recliner, so I was actually really comfortable. The little guy kept trying to kick off the monitors which was adorable (of course that's when he decided to wake up and start moving!).
Interesting, I'm not far enough along to know yet but now I'm curious. It wasn't mentioned to me ... then again, although my RE wanted me to stay on Lovenox until delivery, my OB wants to talk to him about taking me off at 20 weeks. So we'll see.
That's weird - I would def explore this more. From my understanding, you should stay on lovenox until about 36w (exact week may vary by dr) when you're switched to heparin which has a 12 hour half life. Lovenox has a 24 hour half life. This means you'll have to do heparin injections 2x a day from a non-prefilled syringe.
You can't have an epidural with lovenox in your system but there are meds to "undo" heparin if it's in your system, hence the switch in late 3rd tri.
I will also be staying on heparin or lovenox (not sure which yet) for 6 weeks pp. I thought this was SOP, but check with your docs.
Sorry this is a little scattered - am on my phone.
Is it dumb of me to ask why the need to go back on after delivery?
You're at an elevated risk of developing clots post-delivery, so the lovenox/heparin will mitigate that risk. Not quite sure why, but I vaguely remember my doc possibly mentioning the fluctuating hormone levels.

I was on lovenox until the end of my pregnancy...my doc just had me stop when I went in to labor (and I did end up having an epi, but I had a very long labor so it had been well over 24hrs at that point).
At the end, I went once a week for a BPP/NST. I think starting at 32 weeks.
