WCM transition = Severe diaper rash?

We started DD on WCM on April 6th and since then she's had diaper rash. At first it wasn't really bad so I thought it was something she ate. Two days ago I picked her up at daycare and they said she had 5 BM and was very red. This isn't normal for her, she normally has one per day. The diaper rash is very bad now, almost raw looking. Based on the location of it, it's like the actual BM is burning her. She's just miserable. I'm going to call her pediatrician when they open but I wondered if anyone had similar experiences.

I have heard of people having issues with switching. Did you just switch cold turkey or have you been slowly adding WCM to BM or formula?

I would try to transition a little slower and see if that helps.

My son had that same problem when we switched him from formula to WCM to the point where I took him to the Dr thinking he was really sick. Now we're on soy milk and it really helped with the diarrhea. The dr said we can slowly work on switching him back to WCM if we want but that soy is fine too. Until the diarrhea went away we took him off all dairy (formula and milk because formula is made from cows milk.) He had solids and pedialight and did fine. Once it was gone we slowly introduced soy milk. hth

In meantime, I find calendula really helps when DD has a red sore bum.

Thanks for the advice. Since we are almost at two weeks I may keep trying only because daycare provides WCM. If it doesn't improve I will switch her.

I hope it helps! It has made a world of difference for DD. Our pedi recommended it.
