I'm one of the only ones at work today - the other two here are wildly opinionated older gentlemen who have taken the opportunity to lecture me about 1) religion (before I even managed to sit down at my desk) and 2) lazy childrearing these days, which veered into why teachers suck/you kids get off my lawn. I always hold my ground, but damn.
And, yes, he seems to be under the impression that teachers are the ones solely responsible for imparting knowledge to our youth and should do so in a very rote/one-size-fits-all manner. My head about exploded off my body. He's equally frustrated with me that I plan to be an active participant in my children's education and that I do not view teachers as the enemy.
Well, you know we all set out for this occupation solely because we are lazy, want an easy job, and enjoy ruining kid's lives and making the suffer. And OH MY GOD the money we make. Totally raking it in at the cost of those little snot nosed bastards. *evil laugh*
Was he the type of father that never had anything to do with his kids and relied on the mother/teachers to raise them? Is he also under the impression that kids should be seen but not heard? geeze what a grouch. How can he be annoyed that you are going to take interest in your child's upbringing? That makes no sense to me. Maybe it's because I'm a young liberal hippie.
Anywho - enough of my soapboxing. Glad you're getting out early. I hope that means soon!
