For those of you who have Easter baskets, etc.: Do you let your kids decide how much candy they eat on Easter? Or do you portion out during the course of the day, week, etc.?
When my kids were young, I figured they were only a kid once so on Easter and Halloween they could snarf down as much candy as they wished that day/evening. The following days any leftover candy would be dispensed at a reasonable level.
DS1 has carried this family tradition on with my GD.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
this will be the first year C will really have candy in her basket, so we'll see. it probably won't be a free-for-all, but she'll probably get into a lot more than she usually does. then it'll be right back to a piece only if she asks.
Just let them eat whatever they want. Then when I'm cleaning up I squirrel it away. Then H and I eat most of it And I dole out a bit here and there for the kids.

I portion it out. I'm trying something new this year where I put all the candy in the plastic eggs. I think it will seem like there is more per egg than there really is, so if I say, "You can have two eggs," I'll be the awesome mom. Each egg has like 3 of those coated cadburry eggs or 6 jellybeans, etc.

This is what we do. She thinks she's getting a treasure of candy this way.
Not sure yet. So far (stuff from her OOT grandpa and school) we've limited. Not sure how tomorrow will be. I'm kind of an asshole though b/c I opened a chocolate cross and then ate it all today. Hope she forgets about it!
ETA: DD's hilarious on sugar. It's like she's drunk.

I monitor that hell out of that shit for two reasons: They have no self control and I like to make sure they don't eat all the good stuff so I can sneak some of that.
