My first and third were similar (water broke, no contractions) and my second and fourth were similar (contractions came on quickly and labor was short). I definitely knew each time, but they weren't necessarily the same type of labor.
With my first I had semi intense contractions for a couple weeks, followed by a super (hour long) labor. With my second I had mild bh, then woke up one night to definite labor contractions, followed by a much less intense/painful 20 hour labor. With this one, I've had the semi intense contractions for about a week now.

I'm not technically a mom of 2+ yet, but I've been to the hospital twice now for strong, regular contractions that felt exactly the same with DS - and got sent home each time because the contractions started. I keep getting tricked by the fact that they feel the same as before.
The pain was more sudden the first time and the second and third I felt off the morning that I went into labor. It was more crampy and gradually got worse.
Mine were completely different. I didn't have consistent contractions until my water broke with #2. 15 minutes later, i was admitted to the hospital already at 8cm.

Mine were really different. First was really really painful and coupling. My second they were annoying but never making me want to crawl out if my skin. With the second I kept waiting for them to get as bad as they were with my first and it didn't happen.

You know my birth story, but no they weren't! I had back labor with V though. I don't know if it was due to the back labor, but my 1st labor was significantly more painful. I was moaning in pain, etc, and the 2nd time around I was handling it really well. I was shocked when I was ready to push because it hadn't gotten severely painful yet and I was waiting for the pain to reach the level it did with my 1st labor. (The pain was still severe, but, ya know.)
Totally different. With the first my water broke and didn't have any noticeable contractions for another hour.
With the second I noticed cramping into back and only paid attention to it because my OB had stripped my membranes that day. Further into labor my contractions were spaced more evenly apart - muchore manageable (perhaps becausey water hadn't broke?)

Nope. Induced with #1 and she took her time. Went in to labor on my own with #2 and basically went from absolutely nothing to painful and 3 minutes apart. There was no 'Hmmmmmm is this labor? Are these contractions?'........It was zero to 100 with no in between.
I'm also scared I won't really recognize it. DS was pitocin induced back labor, so I don't have a good frame of reference for normal labor. I'm really hoping my water breaks, so there's no mistaking it this time.
