It was the only song DH and I could both agree on. Since it's a faster song, we took dance lessons, which were disastrous. Let's just say I skip that part of our wedding video.
"It had to be you". We chose the Harry Connick, Jr arrangement.
I liked that it was classic and I liked the lyrics.
It was sung live by the person we hired for cocktail and dinner hours.
Come to find out, my grandparents danced their first dance to the same song, so it made it all that much more special.
We had the singer for the first two hours of the night, and then we used a DJ. I really wanted a DJ at the time because I wanted to hear the original songs, but I went to a wedding with a great band and that was so much fun, that I kind of wish we had gone with the band. I was happy with our DJ though.
That was one of the few specific requests MH had for our wedding plans, and I liked the song too, so I agreed.
We had a DJ. We looked into booking a fun cover band (The Nerds) but they were way too expensive for us.
This is too awesome for words. Love.
Ours was "what are you doing the rest of your life" and our band learned the specific arrangement we preferred (Sinatra). We chose this song because the lyrics are incredibly moving/pertinent. Also it is somewhat obscure and I always go for road less traveled and all that.

First wedding- "I could not ask for more" by Edwin McCain. EXH didn't care and I liked it. We had a DJ
This time around- "History in the Making" by Darius Rucker. DH and I had both heard it on the radio driving to our first date and the premise is "what if this is one of those moments you'll never forget?" We both felt that way and told each other a few dates later about hearing the song. It instantly became our song. When we got married it was alone on a beach, so we just had an Ipod hooked up to some speakers.
So, what was your first dance song at your wedding? Spend My Life by Eric Bonet Why did you choose that song? H found it and we just loved the lyrics Bonus q: Did you have a DJ or a band DJ. I'm not a fan of bands at weddings, I want to hear the songs as they were recorded.

Danced to Kenny Chesney- Me & You... We wanted to do Adam Sandler's Grow Old With You from the Wedding Singer but didn't know how that would go over with the crowd. We are huge Adam Sandler fans. We danced to that at our local reception instead.
we had a super-small wedding with no real dance floor, so no official "first dance." or any dance, for that matter. family only.
we did, however, do an impromptu, awkward something to Coldplay's "Sparks" when it came on over the ipod after dinner. ETA: This is really not a happy love song by any means, but has significance for us. So take that tradition!

Happy by Bruce Springsteen - off Tracks. We knew it had to be Bruce (that's how we met) and it was one of the very few slow songs with appropriate lyrics. But it was looong.

I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman. Because DH played it for me when we were wedding planning and I cried. My second choice would have been Storybook Love from The Princess Bride sounstrack. We had a band, but it was a surprise from my parents, I didn't know who it was until we arrived at the reception. So our first dance song was played from a cd.

Collin Raye's "In This Life", because I loved it. I was surprised when I dropped off a recording at the band's office so they could rehearse, and found out they actually already knew it.
I love that song. It's just so light and happy. We got married on the beach with immediate family only. The song just played over the little iPod speakers
First song: Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Byrd Why: because STBXH liked it and I thought it was nice Bonus: DJ. He is also a police detective and dj's on the "side" to keep him sane. He's been both for about 15 years and was awesome.
Bonus bonus question: Daddy-daughter song: Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman

We LOVE Collin Raye! We considered "The Gift" but didn't end up going with it.
I Thought I Loved You Then by Brad Paisley H picked it We had a DJ. He is awesome! DJ John Zucco if you are looking for one in the area!

Our friends did this at their wedding reception at a restaurant (different song, though) and it was so sweet.
