Shouldn't it be a good thing that you're happy, like the way you look, or are just having fun and want a picture? You have to have other people with you to make it ok to take a picture?
Nobody likes it when other people are happy with themselves. ywia.

If the selfie actually looks fun and happy, then sure, that's great. When it looks self-promotional and pose-y, it's just dumb.
Definitely not you, Lucy Honeychurch. The FB friends I'm thinking of, they're duckfacing into the camera every damn day, usually wearing tight, thigh-high skirts. I mean, if that makes them happy, KOKO. I have blocked them, though, because what do I get out of it? lol
I'm too self-conscious to post too many selfies. I usually have to have a reason (like I am posing with my kids & dogs OR I am wearing a "I Voted" sticker). I post one maybe every 2 months - at most - on Facebook. I don't have Instagram. If I'm having a good hair day or feel cute, I am not above taking a selfie, but I don't post those. I just send them to my husband while he's at work. He humors me and every now and then sends one back to me
These have been sent to my husband in the last week, but not posted anywhere. Except here now. Gotta commemorate good hair/makeup days. The ponytail one is not a good hair day

I don't get why they're obnoxious. I mean, sure, anything is if you overdo it, and that's all you post. But I like seeing pictures of people. What difference does it make if they took it themselves?

Well, I like to post OOTD pics on IG when I am wearing a new outfit or like my outfit. Maybe 2-3 times weekly if that? I actually really like seeing OOTD pics because I'm interested in what others are wearing.
But just posting a pic of my face for no apparent reason? I would say maybe once a month. I wouldn't want to do it more than that.
By contrast to the selfie haters in here, I hate when I look at someone's IG and there AREN'T any photos of them. It's all kids or dogs or food or starbucks cups or etc.
Oops. Haha I think my entire Instagram is kid pics. I'm not cute enough for selfies! He IS!
