We have the painter at our house and I need to pick a color for my guest bedroom. DH and I will likely try for another baby early next year. Part of my really wants to paint the guest room (that would be a potential future baby's room) light pink. Obviously, I'd repaint it if we have another boy, but part of me thinks it might be the only chance I have to have a pink room. If we had a girl next we'd be all set. Do you think it would look weird?
I think some pinks can look really good and not automatically like a little girls room, so I wouldn't mind it for a guest room at all. Does the room need painting though, because if you have a boy and you really don't want it to be pink that seems like kind of a pain depending on how soon you're talking about having another.
I'm DYING to paint our guest room a coral color and seeing these pics on Houzz has only made me want to do it more.
I was worried about having a pink guest room, but I think coral is a nice way to make it a bit more sophisticated while also appropriate for a kid's room down the road.
I'm between SW Jovial:
and BM Perky Peach
Not sure if you'd consider a slight color adjustment, but thought I'd throw it out there.
i think really light, as in pink tinted white, can be good in a guest room. then you can have mostly any other coordinating color and just accents of pinks otherwise to highlight it, rather than have it dominate a room.
I do like coral, but I'm not sure DH would (he would call that peach). I like the idea of using a pale white pink and then using accents to highlight it. I'm just not sure how I would do that. White duvet and then pink and insert-favorite-color-with-pink throws, pillows etc.?
you could have pink picture frames interspersed in a wall grouping (say, 1/3 of the frames or less--you can paint them yourself, even have that 1/3 in a couple of shades, one step up/down from each other). a lamp base can easily be spray painted an accent color, the same with accent vases. you could take very neutral, simple drapes and fuse ribbon in an accent pink shade.
these are all ideas for which to choose from, not to do all. for instance, if you do chose to do the lamp base(s) and accent vases, only do one of the vases in a vignette and go with a different color or neutral for the other vase(s). the idea is to just have purposeful pops, not accent overboard. if you do pull it in on a pillow, doing it as part of a pattern in one and then the main color of another would make it not overwhelm, too.
