Ok, I'm admitting that I had the FTM crazies and I ignored everyone who said not to buy a Radian for travel. I AM THE WORST and I was so, so wrong. Major apologies to those who warned me. I suck hard. MANY SORRYS MMM.
I just traveled with J and the Radian solo and OMG my back is broken. 25lbs of toddler on my front, 25lbs of Radian on my back. WTF was I thinking. I'm the biggest bag of douche ever.
I started researching other options because I have a ton of solo travel in the very near future, and I stumbled upon the Orbit G3. I don't own the Orbit stroller, but now I'm thinking I sell a stroller(s) and this effing Radian and try to provide constant sexual favors to my husband and go this route. Does anyone have one? Thoughts? Reviews? The price tag is hefty and I don't want to eff this up yet again,
I suck so hard. I might seriously just stay in Florida forever because I might not survive the trek home.
@fivedog, I usually buy a seat and carry the car seat on, and J is going to be two in July, so my days of even having the lap option are numbered. My travel stroller is the Bugaboo Bee, which was great when I could snap my Aton onto it, but it's just another thing to lug now, though somehow strapping a car seat to it is an interesting idea I hadn't thought of...
Let's pretend I was entertaining the idea of número dos, how does one travel solo with a convertible and an infant seat? Or do they just not? Lol. My husband works a ton, so I'm on my own frequently. I love the idea of the Orbit because it converts to fit two car seats, but I obviously don't love the price.
Yes and I love, love, love it. I had the Nexfit and this is 100 times better and easier. We used the Orbit infant seat and have the Orbit stroller. The convertible seat is heavy, but not too heavy. I think it is less than the Keyfit. Anyway, I also have the Orbit stroller seat to use in the stroller in place of either of the car seats.
It is so wonderful to be able to get E in the car facing me and then twirl him to rear facing. Plus, it has these magnets that hold the straps out of the way when putting him in. Also, he is SO much more comfy looking in this seat. He looked really smushed in the Nextfit.
ETA- Have only traveled with the infant seat, but I love the idea of strolling him through the airport in the toddler car seat and then taking it on board. The stroller folds up small enough that I once had a flight attendant let me put it above the seat with carryon luggage.
You wouldn't need the infant seat, unless you want it for a second child, but it is pricy. I think I paid $1000 for the stroller and infant seat, $379 for the toddler seat, and $200 for the stroller seat that cannot be used in the car.
Also, I am running to dinner now but can take photos later. The best part of the stroller seat is the sun shade. It is massive, like unbelievably huge (and of course an additional $80), which might be good for J since he is pretty fair skinned.

PS- I don't tell my husband when I buy baby stuff or at least how much it costs. Then I don't have to give it up!

I would looooove any and all pictures you're willing to share. It is really going to take some husband convincing since I've already spent a fortune on strollers and car seats. He texted me back "your famous last words are this is my last stroller or car seat, 212. You're about to sell me a bridge in Brooklyn, right?"
Yes Mr212, I am about to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn.

If you don't tell mine, I won't tell yours. Maybe we can even have the stuff shipped to each other so they don't know. "No, this is for my friend rikki, H!"
212 - I'm going to hijack your thread to ask you a question. When visit your family, do you drive solo w/ J or take the train? O and I are going to be making a trip home in a few weeks and while he's decent in the car, I've always had DH w/ me to throw food at him and fetch his iPad from under the seat when he throws it. I can't decide which would be more painful - driving w/ O solo or lugging the carseat (we only have one) on the train w/ O.
I've done both. There is no winning either way. Lugging to Penn sucks hot balls and the mass movement to the train and finding a seat is pretty mizzzz if it's busy, but once you're there it's reasonably smooth sailing (J loves looking out the windows). Driving is less lug, but more stopping (usually making it a longer trip for me). But then I also have my own car in the burbs, which is why I usually choose that evil.
I travel all the time with two and we don't bring car seats in the plane. We try not to bring car seats period but if we have to we check them. My kids don't do well sitting in car seats in planes and I think they are a pain, but I know I'm in the minority on here.
