Work on our DIY new construction is progressing and DH is working on wiring - which has me thinking about lighting!
Most of the house will be done in recessed lights (mostly because I'm not a fan of the "nipple" lights). The kitchen and dining room are one big room separated by a row of cabinets in kitchen (think U shaped kitchen without upper cabinets or a wall separating the kitchen/dining room). The floors will be maple, cabinets walnut and countertops will likely be Sensa Silver Silk Granite usa.sensagranite.com/?page_id=6&color=210 with a white subway tile backsplash. I don't have a color in mind - and since we're just wiring, I don't really need to.

PP gave good suggestions, but.... I would suggest you look again at glass/ glass and metal pendants. I feel like if most of your lighting will be recessed and these lights are some of the only "featured" lighting elements they shouldn't be so matchy with the DR light (ie: same shape, similar material, etc) Sorry I'm sure that's not helpful in this post but I just thought I should throw that out there.
