I'm going on a work trip next week and won't have access to a fridge or microwave during the day (or in my hotel room that I know of). My OB recommended I eat a snack with protein every two hours to avoid light-headedness, but all of my usual go-to's (string cheese, hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt) need to be refrigerated.
What would you pack for lunches and snacks under these circumstances? Any ideas for shelf-stable protein sources besides nuts? (I don't have anything against nuts; I just don't really want to eat them every two hours for a week).
Peanut butter with apples, or crackers for snacks. I usually eat pb&j with trail mix when I'm on the go for lunch, but I don't really know how that would work in a hotel.
I second peanut butter with crackers, whole wheat toast, or apples. You could also do trail mix, or the packs of almonds or other nuts (I think Blue Diamond and Emerald both make these) or the Emerald breakfast on the go packs.
ETA- sorry I missed the no nut request. I think you'd still like the Breakfast on the Go packs, since it's a good mix of nuts, dried fruit, granola, etc. and there are multiple varieties. I like the maple & brown sugar, caramel macchiato, berry nut, and breakfast nut.

most hotels will have dorm sized fridges that you can request for your room, usually for free.
I'm guessing that string cheese might be ok in your purse/bag if you had a small ice pack. Would you be able to run back to your room every so often to get a bite to eat?
You could also do a beef jerky if you like that. Or a protein bar like Builder Bar--they make a delicious chocolate one and it has 20grams of protein. Very filling.
I agree on the peanut butter & apple or crackers. I also like Lara bars. When I travelled I usually had a piece is fruit, trail mix or bar in my bag. I eat much healthier if I've snacked.
Lara bars have both fruit and nuts in them and can provide some variety in flavor. Most nut butters are also shelf stable proteins. You can also check if there is a Dunkin Donuts in or near your hotel. Their egg and cheese wraps are a good source of protein, small in size and reasonably priced.
Target has those GoPicnic meals. We took a couple to travel with last week and they are actually good.
This is what I was going to suggest.
These sound awesome. I think I'll try to get to Target before I leave tomorrow (my trip is to small town Wyoming where they only have one grocery store). Thanks for all the suggestions!
