Jeez, I'm feeling like a cow over here now I was up 28lbs at my 32 week appointment. I'm 5'1 and was a normal, healthy weight before becoming pregnant. I think I gained steadily this whole time, and actually jumped a bit in the 1st tri, gained really slowly for most of the 2nd, and so far in 3rd it seems to be picking up again. I'm definitely working out a lot less, because I'm more tired and can't move as well. And I'm certainly not eating as well as I should be. We'll see where I'm at on Monday at my next appointment. I do feel like my stomach is just getting insanely huge though, not really anywhere else.

I'm sitting with you! I'm up a good 30 lbs. and was at a normal weight before pg. I gained most in the 2nd tri. There have been weeks I've tried to eat really healthy and weeks I've eaten like complete crap and it seems to have a pretty minimal effect on my weight gain. I'm just going with it for now.

You are not a cow! 28 pounds at 32 weeks doesn't sound that bad to me.
i've been extremely perplexed by my weight gain, or rather, lack there of. i'm 29 weeks tomorrow and have only gained one pound. i have no idea how this is happening. i started a good 20 pounds above my goal weight, so i know i should not be gaining all that much weight overall. i just have no idea how my body is doing this. i'm not shy about eating whatever i want. i'm enjoying milkshakes, burgers, so, so much chocolate milk, all kinds of indulgences and it's just not showing up on the scale. i keep waiting for the week i get on and have gained 4 or more pounds but it never seems to happen.
I did lose early on, about 12 pounds according to my home scale, and i've gained that back. i definitely severely cut my portions in the beginning due to lack of appetite/sickness. but i when i looked through my medical records yesterday my monthly appointments never reflected that loss, i've been plus or minus 2 pounds the whole time according to them i do not understand it at all, but i am taking full advantage.
Speaking of genetics...I have been overweight my whole life. Have great difficulty losing or gaining weight. I have been the same weight for 15 years. The most I have gained pregnant is 9 pounds. This time I am almost 32 weeks and am 1 pound below PP weight. My mother was teeny when she had us. Like 5'3" and 90 pounds. She gained 22 pounds with each of her 2 pregnancies and had 9lb 1oz and a 10lb 11oz babies. My sister's largest weight gain was 16 pounds with her 3rd pregnancy. There is a huge genetic component to the weight gain. I also don't eat much when pregnant because I have a lot of aversions and wicked morning sickness but I don't think that is all of it. I don't even think a bagel or a candy bar is a bad thing. As long as it isn't 6 candy bars after lunch, everything in moderation. I am eating a snickers right now because I need the energy boost and it is all I had. Our bodies will do what they need to do.

At my very first appointment my doctor said I should gain only 5-10 lbs. LOL. I was a bit overweight to begin with but thought that was ridiculous. I gained 42 pounds but wore the same maternity jeans from week 14 to week 39. I honestly don't know where I gained the weight.

pinotgrig-Well you look amazing, I'm glad we're in the same boat, that makes me feel better
hokiegirl82-Thanks! I thought it was fine too but the doctor I saw last said I needed to watch my weight because a "petite person like me doesn't want to push out a 10lb baby". Thanks doc. I know normal is to gain 25-35 lbs., so I'm still technically in the normal range but it puts a little added pressure on to not go over the 35lb. mark. Although I'm pretty sure I will lol.

You look awesome, so I would side-eye any doc that gave you a weight talk. And keep in mind we were in 2nd tri for thanksgiving (?) and Christmas - all that good food and sweets around for weeks!
I mentally deduct weight for baby, boobs, and fluid each time I get weighed at my dr's office, too. Lol

Omg, YES. At least 10lbs has got to be boobs, I forgot about that part And thank you!
I'm 35 weeks and up about 30 pounds. I usually go a few weeks with zero gain and then BAM will gain 3-5 pounds in a week... Always shocking when that happens
Re: NYC bagels... Essa Bagel.... Heaven. That is all.
