Keep in mind that I am not in the US, nor am I American.
My boy name is the 376th most popular name in the USA, and the 927th most popular name in the UK. In 2012 there were only 32 kids named it in the UK.
My girl name is the 10th most popular in the USA, and the 38th most popular girls name in the UK.
Now I just have to hope that DH does not change his mind. He started to throw around some other names to use last week, I thought we had settled on names.
Our name isn't even in the top 1000- and hasn't been in almost 30 years. But it peaked in popularity back in the 1920s, so at least we're on trend in that way?

Ooo, curious! Are you sharing?
Maybe once she's born--Mr. Smock wants to keep it secret until then. Sorry!
You can find the top 50, 100, 500 and 1000 on this page www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/#ht=1 , just change the tab to "Popular Names by Birth Year". I hope that is what you were looking for!
One of our top girl names (Chloe) is too popular for my liking but it did go down from 11 to 14. DH loves it though and is already using it. We can not find a boy name we both like. I'm hoping to scan this list some more with him to see what we come up with.
Before even looking at the list, I knew DS1's name would be on there. LOL We used it because he is named after his father and grandfather and I really like the name, but I meet boys named James all. the. time. these days. I've already told H that he is going to have to go by his first name and last initial when he gets to school. Heh.
I'm actually surprised to see the name we chose for our daughter just barely ekked out of the top 25. I've never met anyone with the name. H and I have a very common last name so we were hoping to give our child a more unique first name.

IHave you all heard of namenerds.com? They take the SSA list and combine names with different spellings. On the SSA list each spelling is counted as a unique name. So aiden, aden, and adyn are counted separately. Name nerds combines the spellings and re-ranks them. So dd's name with her spelling was like 68 the year she was born, but all the spellings together raise it to 13.
Of course it takes them a while to come out with the lists each year.
At the same time, as a percentage of the population, each of the top ten represent less of the population than they used to, so I don't really worry about everyone having her name with the less attractive popular spelling.
