We have been gathering quotes for a landscaping service, and a backup care nanny we occasionally use asked if her husband could give us a quote, and she called earlier this week and left a vm with a quote of $50 per mow (which is much higher than others we received). I never called her back, and we signed up with another service, which is starting Monday.
Today, two guys showed up and mowed the yard, but didn't do any weeding, we assumed it was the service we signed up for doing part of the job. Then, I got a text saying the guys would be coming every 2 weeks, and is that ok? We exchanged a few texts and I realized it was the nanny! She just sent the guys without asking and tried to say I had agreed to the service contract. I'm obviously not paying and will never use her again for childcare. I can't believe how shady she is, I wish I knew the name of the landscape company so I could report them.
I don't even know her husband's name, but I think I'll try to get it tomorrow. She keeps trying to tell me I'm confused and that I agreed to the services over text, which is just a lie, so I've stopped responding for tonight. Would you report her to the nanny service?
Well, I'm torn about whether to report her since it isn't 'directly' related to her job - I mean, yes, unprofessional, but maybe they are struggling and she's just desperate to help her H's company get work. Not a smart move, but she isn't bad at providing childcare (and it would be sad for her to lose her job). Maybe explain to her how this makes her look and is very dangerous for her own job?
True, I wouldn't want her to lose her job over this. She was really good with my son too, so the whole thing is extra disappointing.
Is there any way what you said over text could be misconstrued as hiring them? In any case, I'd keep the text conversion just to be safe.
Nope, I never texted her, or spoke to her on the phone. She texted me for the first time the evening after the lawn was mowed. Before that our only contact about the yard was her asking if her husband could give us a quote, and the vm she left, which asked me to let her know if we wanted to hire them. I'm saving everything but I don't think anything will come of it since she has no proof.
