I had a good appointment this morning with MFM. Baby has grown from the 9th percentile to the 22nd percentile over the last 2 weeks! The doctor was surprised, b/c all the individual measurements are still quite small, in single digits, but the composite result shows a big boost. She finally explained it as a calculation based on the femur to head ratio that was favorable. While I'm relieved, the result also deepens my skepticism over the reliability of the u/s measurements. Basically his measurements went from the 40th percentile to the 15th to the 9th and back up to the 22nd over the last 4 u/s. Still, this is a positive development. All other indicators are good as well, including fluid level, cord blood flow, and cervical length. In addition, his movements have gotten quite strong, so that's also a good sign. Just to be cautious, she still wants me to maintain a weekly monitoring appointment, which is fine with me.
The sonographer was trying really hard to get a 3D picture of his face, but the little stinker resolutely kept it pressed closed to the placenta, even sticking out his tongue to lick it from time to time, or putting his hand over the face, anything but to turn it for a good mug shot. LOL. Licking the placenta is his schtick--he's been doing it at almost every u/s.
