She said it's way too early for rlp and is sending me in for an u/s soon. So I'm scared. In also really worried it will be super expensive. Will update later.
I know it's hard, but try not to worry too much yet. It could be anything from ute stretching pains to a cyst on the ovary you ovulated from. An u/s will be able to quickly tell you what's going on (or at least rule things out).
As for the cost, I've paid one co-pay up front until recently when I've started paying towards the l&d costs. I know all insurance is different, but I you're just looking at a copay if they bill it as an office visit.
Oh man, that's frustrating. That was what I thought as well, that they wouldn't be able to see anything at 4 weeks. Are they trying to rule out an ectopic?
With this pg, I had a few sharp pains, but it wasn't one side or another, so I didn't worry about it. I did have a c-section with #1, and read that could cause some more pains with ute stretching. Any chance that's the same for you?
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Umm yeah, that's bs. They KNEW they wouldn't be able to see anything! You can't even confirm uterine pregnancy at that point. That's so frustrating, I'm sorry. So, what now? Go back next week? Did they at least give you any reassurances?
I'm irritated. Not really any reassurance....my ovaries arent twisted, I guess that's good? Bllaaaah. Wth?
I had an u/s at 4 weeks too, because my previous pregnancy was a ruptured ectopic. My OB couldn't see anything of course but a thickened lining. I went back at 5 weeks and saw a small sac and the very beginning of a yolk sac to rule out ectopic again. Is the doc going to have you back in a week or so to recheck? Where is your pain exactly?

I had weird one-sided pain early on, too.
Is it possible the pain isn't pregnancy-related? Have they checked for UTIs, etc.? Just trying to think what it might be.
But, yeah, I'd be pissed that they ordered an u/s knowing full well they wouldn't see diddly. Insurance will likely cover it, but unnecessary visits/procedures/copays piss me off. Just because I have decent insurance doesn't mean I want to use it all the damn time!
I also had one sided pain early on. I was a little worried because it would occasionally double me over but everything was fine when I went in at 6 weeks and has been fine since (I'm 14 weeks). I still have one sided pain but all I can think is things are stretching in there.
I am surprised they did a scan. Here they won't do them until you are 6 weeks along. My doctor was not even allowed to refer me to the early pregnancy clinic until I was 6 weeks.
