I need hooks in the bathroom and I'm afraid to buy one that won't work for both. I've seen some that specifically says robe/towel hook. But most of what I've seen says robe hook. So, I'm confused. LOL.

I would get one specifically for either a robe or a towel. We bought a robe hook rather than a towel hook for our powder room because we liked the look better. Well it doesn't hold a towel well at all unless the towel has a little loop. We ended up swapping it out after a year of having the towel constantly falling on the floor.

This is the one we got, and looking at it now it is pretty obvious that it would have a hard time holding a towel. So if the "robe" hooks you are looking at are more curved I'd think they'd work. But something like this does not work for holding a towel.
I have one similar to the last one and it works great for towels. If I have a towel that starts to slip off I fold a bit and just put more of the towel on the hook (if that makes sense)
Yup towel hook and robe hook are the same thing. Robe hooks tend to have a tall hook and lower hook like this similar to a coat hook:
But a lot of websites use the terms interchangeably. I've seen people use that style for towels but I've found the double hooks with the side by side hooks work the best similar to your first and third options. We like to use big bath sheets so the wider hooks hold them up better and spread them out a little to help them dry. To save space we're 4 hooks in both the main and master bathrooms for towels and/or robes. In the main bathroom we've been using these hooks with no problems of slipping towels:
Thank you all for the feedback. Very helpful. Now, I know which ones to avoid.
FoxInFiji... I know this has been discussed before, but in your experience, do the towels dry fine with the hooks?
Yes they dry just fine! Both our main bathroom and master bathroom were tiny 45 sf rooms so we had a towel bar on the back of the door and a double hook similar to the style I posted. My towel on the back of the door had to be folded over to fit and it usually took longer for it to dry than DH's on the hook! I think the new more open spot for our towel hooks in this bathroom aids in drying as well. The old hook was behind the door so there was limited air movement with the door left open. Like I said we have huge bath sheets that are very thick and they dry just fine. We just got these new towels which we have yet to try (www1.macys.com/shop/product/hotel-collection-bath-towels-finest-luxury-collection?ID=194231) but they seem to be about the same thickness. The added bonus is DH's towel is always put away nicely. He's normally a tidy guy but his one weakness is hanging his towel nicely on a towel bar (one of my pet peeves). It's either bunched up in a corner of the bar unable to dry or fallen/left in a pile on the floor. That's not a problem with hooks. I'm loving using the hooks too so we're going ahead with just hooks in the master bath as well.

Great to know! Is there an ideal spacing between hooks?
We're using 9-10" between the two bathrooms but that was determined from doing an even spacing between the four hooks. I wanted to keep both rooms at four so we could have two towels and two robes so two people could use each bathroom and not be fighting over an odd hook.
Holding up our big towels and measuring the bottom a 12" spacing would probably be the best if we had the space. That way the towels would just barely touch. They still dry just fine this way as only one towel is typically wet at a time.
