I have 2 dressy/casual events coming up and I'd love to get a new maxi dress. But I just can't figure out how to wear a dress if I'm going to have to nurse at some point during the event. It's hard enough to NIP but then to picture pulling my whole dress up and sitting there with my ass hanging out makes it that much less appealing!
I was wondering the same thing! I've got a bunch of cute dresses that I used to wear to work, but most are zippered in the back, and I can't imagine wearing them while pumping, much less wearing them to an event where I would have to nurse!
Good tips in here - and I was about to page @kirkette, but I'm glad to see she got here first!

If you don't like being totally exposed while nursing in a dress (and the nursing pad is an awesome idea too), wear a cami underneath. You can pull the dress down and the cami up/out to cover up the boob. Like others, I buy V-neck dresses or dresses that can be easily pulled down for quick access.
I just did this at a wedding on Saturday. Low cut, crossover neckline. I popped him in the Moby when it was time to nurse, pulled my neckline down, unclipped the nursing bra and popped it in his mouth. I was a little uncovered, and he was easily distracted, so I stood in a little lobby area out of the way while he nursed. I could have used a little scarf or blanket to cover, too.

I have two maxis with a deep v neck that I wear a nursing tank under. I have a short dress with a zip up front that I wear with leggings. A dress that buttons up the front like a shirt dress would work the same way. I have a wrap dress that doesn't stay put very well so I always babywear with it. I have one dress with special nursing panels and I hate it so much I rarely wear it.
My husband laughs at me because every morning when I get dressed I check to see how easily I can get my boobs out. Who knew that would be my number one requirement for outfits?

You gotta do what you gotta do. I do the same thing.
I'm not brave enough to wear dresses while nursing. Cheers to all of you who are! If I wasn't weaning DD2 in a month I would be seriously inspired right now, lol.
I have two wedding this summer where I'll need access. I'm doing a reading in one of them and since I'm getting back in shape, I kinda want to buy something nice. Meaning, I don't want to buy a maternity/nursing tent. Anyone have any success in typical jcrew dresses?

Mind sharing what dress you wore? We have a wedding in 2 weeks and I need one!
Sorry, I just looked for it, and they don't have it anymore - I bought it two years ago for a gala I attended.
I'd just look for anything knit (I feel like a nice jersey knit can have a more formal, heavy drape) that has a wrap or deep neckline. Mine was a maxi dress, but here are a few from Nordstrom?
