I had to go to an out of state ER in April while we were on vacation bc I started bleeding heavily. I spent half the day there , got an US, they took blood, gave me a rhogham shot and sent me on my way. My bill just came from the hospital and all it says is it was $1200 and that I owe $900. No line items at all. I go online and pull up the EOB and literally every line is listed as "hospital services" and all these different prices are listed. Is this normal? I have always gotten bills that actually named the services.

I think the charges sound normal for an ER visit. Definitely call to get an itemized bill though.
For reference I was monitored in L&D for a few hours, no blood work or US. I never saw a doctor although they did a phone consult with my OB. They determined I was in the very early stages of labor & sent me home. M was born 2 days later. The bill was around $1k with my portion being $700, this was at my local in-network hospital.
It was an in network hospital but we have shitty insurance ( odd considering my H works for a huge bank) I already paid one bill a bill that came that said Emergency Care and thats $250 and then the ultrasound came as another bill and I owed $40. So strange.
