I day-weaned at 11.5 months. She also generally STTN then or only wake up once around 6. I just nurse her then because it's faster. I also nurse in the morning if she doesn't have the 6:00 session. I nurse at night before bed and send almond milk to daycare, but she drinks only about 5oz. I also nurse before nap during weekend. I nurse after meals, so she's never hungry after nursing. 3 months later, I don't feel as full and I don't think DD gets as much as before.
We basically day weaned when they said she was officially in the first steps room. So that Friday she had 2 bottles of formula at daycare and Saturday we dropped all feedings except for morning and night.
E wasn't phased with the during the day drops. She is more than happy to have snacks/meals. She's not drinking much milk still, but we offer it at lunch (at dc) and at dinner. She chugs water like no other both at home and at daycare.
I was hoping to drop the morning session soon, but um, we all know how well that is going, so that is tabled until after we go OOT for Memorial Day. So far I haven't felt uncomfortable and E still seems satisfied at the boob. I've had a couple times here or there where the morning side feels really full at the end of the day, but nothing too bad.
I day weaned at 12 months. He did nurse before naps on the weekends until 14ish months. Then we did 2x a day from 14-16 months, and only at night until 18 months.
After 14 months, I tried not to nurse MOTN (we night weaned around 10 months). When he had RSV at 15 months, I did give in and nurse him MOTN for 2 nights, for his comfort. It was uncomfortable for me, but he was sick.
As far as making it easier - we mostly nursed in my bed, so not bringing him in there greatly reduced any negative reaction from him. Now that he's been completely weaned for 2.5 weeks, I can bring him in our bed without him expecting to nurse (though he does kind of look at me, waiting to see what I'm going to do). When we were down to nursing before bed only, if he came in the bedroom in the morning, he wanted to nurse, and threw a fit when I said no.
I day weaned around 8 months. He was still waking during the night, but around 6-ish months he wasn't really interested in nursing or a bottle (we're so fun he just didn't want to be away from us). I continued to nurse just in the morning for about 3 more months. And like pp said, right in our bed.
He didn't seem to care where the food was coming from :-(
I day weaned at 12 months and didn't night wean until 18 months (and still nursed when together for long after that). I didn't really have "rules" and my body seemed to always have milk if he wanted it. DS was a terrible sleeper, before, during, and after night weaning. You won't spontaneously dry up, but if you haven't got your period yet you will soon (and that could cause a hit) and if you get pregnant, that would likely be the end.

I dropped to 2 daytime sessions around 14 months, but if he woke up in the motn I nursed him (since it was really the only thing that calmed him).
Around 11 months when he started daycare we cut out nursing on demand, went to morning, afternoon and bedtime sessions. And he just drank water during the day.
My supply seemed to do just fine with the infrequent nursing.
At 8 months, I started easing off the pumping at work and pretty quickly stopped pumping at all during the day. That was a little less than 2 months ago. I nurse DS in the morning, before bedtime, and on the weekends. I haven't had any issues keeping up on weekends, which was a pleasant surprise. He sleeps through the night most of the time, but teething has been waking him up lately and I will nurse then.
I sometimes pump in the morning or evening if I end up nursing him only on one side. He gets two 6 oz bottles of formula and two 6 oz bottles of thawed breastmilk at daycare.
The transition has been pretty easy, so I'm hoping to continue bf-ing morning and night until I feel like stopping or he decides to stop. But I like our snuggle time and I like to think he does too!
