ughh I was honest when people asked me how dd is sleeping. "Oh she's been sleeping for 8-10 hours, 8:30-7." blah blah and of course her sleep goes to shit this week. Never again!!! Now I know what you guys mean by "the thing we do not speak of".
We went through three days of fussy hell and so far this morning J is no longer a fussy mess! Let's hope this stays.
I have to go dress shopping today. I've got a formal event and a wedding coming up. Of course nothing in my closet fits. I can't wait for the formal. I love an excuse to get all dressed up and my moms coming down to babysit
I had to get a dress from the maternity store as my regular ones fit weird still.
M starts daycare tomorrow and I'm super sad. I go back to work Tuesday after next. She will be pt just to help me transition. :_(

I have my 12 week appointment today. Hopefully everything is still good and we can make our general pregnancy announcement tonight. Plus after my appt I plan to get a pedicure and go grocery shopping alone. Woohoo!
I enjoy hearing about it. Not my thing but I can see the appeal. Then again as the mother of a sleep failure I am more open than others to outside the box sleep ideas.
I agree with this. I've never heard of this method outside of this thread and it sounds like an interesting but not bad way to approach sleep. At least you'll never have to dread the crib to bed transition as I am currently doing!
DD just got out of her sleep sack for the first time. Damn. I turned on the monitor to see her sitting with her legs out and then she got up and darted from one side of the crib to the other. Lol I put her back in it and am hoping for the best.
Turn it inside out! It's annoying to zip, but not impossible. DS starting unzipping his sleep sacks awhile ago, and I got the great inside-out advice here on MMM. He's back to good sleeping.
Last night's sleep was horrific on so many levels that I actually took DS2 to the pedi this morning just to make sure there's nothing going on. Also, we're traveling this weekend, so if it was an ear infection or something, I didn't want to end up at a random urgent care.
Yeah, he's fine. Well, if you can call getting four teeth in a week fine. (Two are through, two more ready to pop according to the doctor). A tad bit of non-cloudy fluid in one ear, so I have a script to hang on to in case it gets worse over the weekend. But yeah, just a stinker was the overall diagnosis. At least we're to the 10% co insurance portion of our insurance already this year so it only cost $13 for my little sanity trip. And I hit them up for some free formula so I think it was actually a win.
The other part of the horrible night was my older son. He was basically up screaming from 2:30 on. He just wanted someone to sleep with him in his bed. That's all. So DH and I basically traded back and forth. We'd go in there till he fell asleep and then sneak out, repeat. Totally not like him but he's fine today. EXCEPT HE WONT NAP. He's been in his room, not sleeping, for almost two hours. WTF, I mean seriously.
DH took a half day to change the oil in the can and finish the swing set and I'm just sitting my ass on the couch. My brain isn't functioning.

I had DS's two year appointment today! Big guy is 37lbs and 36.5" which puts his BMI up in the overweight category but his doctor didn't seem too worried. I'll just try to focus on increasing fruit and veggie intake and decreasing junk carbs and sugar, I don't know how he could get more active!
Doctor wasn't worried at all about his speech so we'll hold off on evaluating him for now, especially since he's made so much progress recently. Weird that we're done with the full two years of frequent appointments! Of course I'll be back all the time with the new baby by fall.
It might not but his newest trick is to roll right off the bed into a seated position so I was hoping a larger surface area would stop this. I don't mind him getting out but he whined three times last night for me to put him back in.
Eh, I think he will get over it in a few. Or you could just ignore him and let him sleep on the floor, I don't think there is any harm to that.

I did ignore a whimper at 5 and found him leaning into the bed at 7 so I guess he is slowly figuring it out. Thanks!

Yeah, he will get it. Plus, I imagine he will know how to get back up there eventually. If you are worried could you buy the inflatable rails that go under the crib sheet? I mean I geuss that kind of defeats the montessori purposes, but he could still get out it would just require more effort

Oh, duh, I knew this and forgot. Thanks! I'm not sure it'll help though, since she's been getting her arms out too. We're going to try a nap soon, so I'll do this!

I'm so proud of Nods. We took my mom out to eat for lunch today as her Mother's day gift. We were at a nicer restaurant and Nods, sat quietly, tasted all of our food and the people at TWO different tables complimented me on her behavior.
Any recs for a comb or brush for tight curls? DD has tight springy curls and they tend to get matted overnight, but brushing them out gives her a massive frizzy ball of hair.
DD1 has tight ringlets and I only comb her hair when it's soaking wet in the bath tub (after putting conditioner in). In the morning it's usually frizzy and matted, so I spray with water, then spray with a mix if conditioner and water, then comb through with my fingers. Then I spray with water again and 'fluff'. This routine was recommended by the Deva Curl certified hair stylist I took her to and seems to work pretty well.

I'm no expert, as my kid's hair looks wild about 90% of the time, but we have a wide tooth comb for use after conditioner. I don't brush or comb it while it's dry. My main strategy is to try to smooth some of it back to get it into a clip, and gather the rest of it back into a ponytail. If I want the curls to look presentable/nice (i.e., school pics or wedding) she gets a bath/shower the same day instead of the night before. I should start doing the conditioner spray though as I bet people are out there judging us.

I just started using a conditioner spray post bath to try to prevent frizz--it's made such a difference. Sounds like I need to re-wet and condition whenever it needs to be styled then!

I use a water-filled spray bottle, a wide toothed comb, and spray gel each morning on DD's hair to keep her curls reasonably under control.

Even with the conditioner spray, I probably haven't been getting DD's hair wet enough to restyle. There have been many times when I've turned it into a ball of frizz, and then tried to wrangle it all into pigtails or a little ponytail out of frustration- she's definitely had some crazy hair days.
