DS has decided to catch up with the world and is toddling ( <))
Curious for others - how long did it take your LO to go from toddling/steps to walking (walking defined as "generally sure on their feet/confident walking as primary transport)
DS is 14 mos, and can at this point take steps fully across a room/etc - just wondering if there is a general timeframe for the "drunken sailor" initial walking to a more fluid skill - and if that timeframe was different if LO was older, as DS was, when the toddling started.
Dd transitioned quickly. Like a week. Dd learned at 14 months and now at 15 months is running. Before 14 months she only took a step or 2 into our arms. It's crazy how quickly it happened.
@ffbride0813 - Thank you - this sounds like EXACTLY what I'm expecting is going to happen with us and the same ages as what you described. I just didn't know if I was being totally unreasonable in assuming that.
it took DS about 2 months to lose the zombie/drunken sailor walk. he wasn't a runner until much later and even now, doesn't run all that much. just not his thing i guess.
DS3 took his first steps almost 3 weeks ago. He now takes several steps in a row pretty frequently and walks versus crawling maybe 25% of the time, but he is definitely not super confident or walking exclusively yet.
Longer than I expected, almost 2 months! He was pulling up at 10 months, cruising at 12, tentative steps at 13 months, and full-on walking at 15 months. I remember because it was a few days before his 15 months appointment and I was freaked that he wasn't walking yet and that the pedi was going to say he was motor delayed. But then he finally starting walking as his primary mode of transportation.
DD1 it took like 48 hours. All the rest it took weeks. DD4 is your DS same age 3/20/13 & she can only walk 2-5 steps at a time & those are coaxed. She's not like DD1, who was determined to walk after her first step.
