Yep, we like it. The 40lb weight limit blows, but we then bought a Nautilus to take him from the time he outgrows the Scenera (more for height, he's almost too tall) to being done with a car seat. Overall we spent $130 on car seats for our lesser used vehicle thanks to Target's super Nautilus sale a few weeks ago. We don't have any issues installing the Scenera-just know it's a basic seat with little padding.
Another option is to get an Evenflo Sureride, which will last you a LOT longer in a 5pt harness. You could essentially go from that to either a high back booster or backless, depending on the size/age of the kid, for about $100 total, depending on sales.

Honestly, we hated it and replaced it. Hardly any padding, and the straps would constantly get twisted, too the point where we had to take the seat out to fix them. Several times, the straps became uneven (one side would be super tight, the other side super loose). Or they'd be super loose but something behind the seat got caught and we couldn't tighten the straps.
We have it as a seat to take with us when traveling. It's fine for that purpose, as it's very lightweight and compact. I would prefer an Evenflo Sureride or a Safety 1st Guide65 for a back-up seat, as they have longer useful lives and look a bit more comfortable. When traveling, ease of transport wins out over DS's comfort, thus the Scenera.

We have them for the nanny's car for DD and the grandparents' cars. The chest strap and bottom buckle are a fair amount stiffer than our other seats (radians and Britax) but otherwise I have no complaints.
I was just looking at it as an option for my parents car. I decided on another Evenflo SureRide (which we have in DH's car). It's $99 at BRU and Target and has a 65 pound weight limit. The Cosco also looked wider/bulkier to me than the Evenflo.
I literally just came back from buying one at BRU. I had a 20% off coupon that was for a toy purchase, so it wouldn't work. I explained to the sales gal that it said on it can't be used on baby food, diapers, etc. but nothing about car seats, so she gave me the 20% off. Worth a shot :-)
We used it as a second seat and it worked fine. DH had to reinstall it every time we used it, and it wasn't too difficult. It does have less padding, but my kids never seemed to notice.

we have it as our second carseat in DH's car for both kids. It's fine for a second car seat and it's rated the best of the cheap ones. It's definitely no frills.
