Hi there! MH and I are planning a 3-day trip to Napa in July and I was hoping to get some recommendations on the area. Anyone have any thoughts on places to stay/see/visit? Thanks in advance!
I have a whole bunch of blog posts about Napa and Sonoma. I think staying in Sonoma is nice for a first visit because you're a bit more central in regards to Napa Valley, Healdsburg/northern Sonoma County, and the Russian River Valley. Or if you'd prefer to stay in the Napa Valley, Yountville is cute and walkable.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

If you are wanting to do a tour, I cannot recommend Max Napa Tours enough! He takes a maximum of six people and tailors the wineries you visit based on what you like. He was even calling wineries while we were with him to change tastings for the afternoon based on what we liked in the AM. We had such an amazing time with him and he got us in for private tastings at wineries where the big tours companies can't go. Even if you stay in Napa, doing a tour may be a good idea so you don't have to worry about drinking and driving.
We did not stay in Napa (stayed in SF), but our favorite vineyards that we visited were The Terraces and Salvestrin.

I'll second this rec. I've used MNT two years in a row now during trips to SF and they are great! Loved Salvestrin, Hunnicutt and Whetstone.
