Let's say you get work bonuses for Jan-June (finalized at the end of July, paid Aug 15) and July-December (finalized at the end of Jan, paid Feb 15)
If you gave notice in early August --after the 1H bonus was finalized -- and you'd still be working on Aug 15 when it is scheduled to be paid, would you expect to receive your bonus, even though you've given notice that you'll be leaving shortly after it is paid?

If I were the company and you put in your notice before the bonus was paid out and it was a sizable bonus I would tell you not to work your notice period.
I bet there are rules written somewhere- you just may not have them. For bonuses at my company, you must be employed at the company on the last day of the bonus period, or the first day of the new year for Q4 bonuses. However, this is just my company's rules.

At my company, if you are working for the company at the end of the bonus period, and leave between then and when it is paid (which is 2.5 months), you will still get your bonus. So, policies vary between companies.

You can expect to get it all day long, but a squirrely company will find a way to keep it from you if they put enough effort into it. Unless it's spelled out crystal-clear in the employee handbook I'd wait to put in notice until it's paid out.
I would wait until it is in your checking company. It is amazing how many people give notice at DH's current job and his old job just days after bonuses are paid.
