I saw a sleep specialist this morning because the Ambien didn't work and my doctor suspected there was more to this story.
I showed the specialist my sleep schedule (they give you a paper to log your sleep before hand), I explained basically my entire life, and we discussed it all.
Circadian sleep disorder and delayed sleep phase disorder. I guess this generally shows up in someone who is blind due to not being able to see light/dark and regulating their bodies to it. But it did say it can show up in anyone and you are likely born with it/it happens at a young age.
Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders (CRSDs or CSDs) are neurological disorders in which the sleep-wake cycle is out of sync with the day-night cycle. Basically, my internal clock sucks.
On Tuesday I go to pick up a watch, it sort of works like the fitbit where it tracks your sleep. And I have more logs to fill out.
She wants to further make sure this is it and then work on the treatments to correct it.
Guys, I could have cried and hugged her when she told me "oh no, no, this is NOT a 'get on a schedule and it will go away' thing. This is an actual disorder that interrupts your life." Because everyone always told me "oh, just take this or that" or "go to bed at x time every night."

Yay, good news! I've seen commercials recently for medication for CRSDs aimed towards the blind/visually impaired population - is that one of your potential options, once the doc is sure?

She didn't really discuss, but mentioned something about light therapy. I am sure she will go over, in more detail, options of correcting it once she gets all the information from my sleep.
To be honest, I didn't even really question it beyond "so we can get rid of this?" and internally thinking "I want to hug you!" lol.

Is this like that Non 24 disorder? That commercial (the radio one) pisses me off because the guy is all 'You can't see me because I'm on the radio. I can't see you because I'M TOTALLY BLIND.' and I'm thinking 'but he's on the radio too so DUH!
Glad you have an answer to your problem, hopefully now you can try and fix it!

Yes. I guess, I think. She said mine IS the 24 hour kind, which is the delayed sleep one.
