I can't figure out where to post this, this seemed the best spot. I need to get a new pair of glasses, not so much for prescription reasons (nothing has changed) but because my current pair are about 5 years old and scratched. I'd like something a bit trendier than the half-wire I have now, but not too trendy (sparkles, etc) as I wear them everyday.
The last pair I picked out looked good in the store, but looked awful when I got home (hence the 5 year old pair I wear instead). I don't trust myself to pick frames out alone, without the help from internet strangers.
I know glasses are pretty personal, but does anyone have suggestions of styles/brands/etc? PIP's would be very helpful. I have a very thin face, if that matters. Thanks!
Before I got Lasik (best decision of my life, btw), I wore glasses all the time. I always really liked my pair from Prodesign. They had a lot of fun colors and styles, and a lot of classic styles as well. They held up really well, despite my terrible care of them, haha.

Warby Parker is pretty trendy, but they have cute stuff and reasonable prices www.warbyparker.com/
My current pair are prodesign denmark. I got them from my eye doctor. They are "trendy" in that they are large-ish, tortoise shell, very nerdy/preppy. Suits my style .
I tried some pairs from Warby Parker and will probably order a pair next year (my insurance only contributes to 1 pair every 2 years) since I like to shake things up. The frames were cute and you can try 5 frames for free before you buy so you can be sure you like them.
Long story short - I second both of these recommendations!
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. - Bruce Lee
My regular pair is from Hour Eyes, but I have a couple of fun more colorful/trendy ones from Zenni Optical (already mentioned) and googles4u.com. Both allow you to upload a picture to virtually try them on and they're both very inexpensive. (The googles4u ones take about one month from when you order to when they arrive, fyi.) If you don't have good luck with glasses that you like, though, I wouldn't recommend doing it all online. Go shopping with a friend or take pictures of some in the store and post those for feedback.

I have some clear Nicole Miller frames from Coastal Contacts that were around $50 for the thinnest lenses since I have really bad vision. Nicole Miller frames are pretty small, but she has some great options that are up to date. I have one pair called "at first sight" and the others are "salt swirl." The "at first sight" are clear. I haven't tried on any of my frames in about 3 years. Coastal does free frames and the basic lenses. Mine come out around $50 with upgrades and free frames.

i read an article about face shapes/glasses frames recently. maybe try to google a few. My optician is a genius. He is stylish and can spot the best frames for me a mile away! Maybe ask around for a local recommendation by someone who has style? Usually high end optical stores have talented consultants. I get a new pair almost annually b/c I like a wardrobe change LOL my poor husband! He hates these bills!! I love David Yurman frames.
Warby parker is also a philanthropy (like Toms) and pretty affordable.

I mostly wear glasses full time because my eyes hate contacts most days. I got my most recent ones (Tommy Bahama, random) at the eye doctor, but I have gotten them from Zenni Optical in the past and was pleased. Here are a couple that I wear most frequently. The half-wire pair is a lot older but I still wear them off and on. Holy difference in hair color too, right? ha.

I wear glasses 24/7 as I'm nearly blind without them. My latest pair (nearing its last leg) is about 8 months out from being replaced and are 7 For All Mankind that I picked up very cheaply at Costco. Definitely a nice selection.
I wear glasses about 1/2 the time. I have 8 pair from Zenni Optical. They are cheap, but I like them and was able to get a lot of different colors. I generally wear the thicker framed style.
Before I got Lasik (best decision of my life, btw), I wore glasses all the time.
I just wanted to ditto this. I got to the point where I couldn't tolerate contacts for more than a couple hours, so I was wearing glasses every day. I had Lasik and it was soooo awesome.
I can't help with your question, though I bought a nice pair of frames from my doctor's office and then had a cheap spare pair from Pearl Vision.

There are a ton of clothing/shoe/jewelry designers who make eyeglasses. At my mom's office (she works for an optometrist), they have Chanel, Dior, Tiffany & Co, kate spade, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Tag Heuer, Gucci, Fendi, Juicy and on and on, plus brands like Prodesign. 90%+ of the frames are very fashion forward. I would only go someplace where there is a lot of variety, not only in styles but also the different colors available in each style, the majority of the glasses are displayed on racks instead of in drawers and where the opticians know the latest styles (a good way to figure this out is based on their own clothing, glasses if they wear them, hair, makeup), and how to fit for your face shape and coloring.
My current pair are kate spade Angela in navy, my prior pair are Coach Gwendolyn in plum, and before that I had green titanium Prodesign frames. FWIW, I am fair with cool/pink undertones, light brown hair, green eyes.
My nose has a narrow bridge so that limits the plastic/acrylic options for me, even though I vastly prefer those styles. My current glasses, while acrylic, have regular nose pads for a better fit. A good optician will help you pick out frames that work in that manner.

Thanks everyone! I did have Lasik about 10 years ago. Unfortunately it didn't work 100%...my eyesight was too bad and my corneas were too thin. I'm like the .0003% that didn't have complete success with Lasik. I'm happy I got it (my eyesight is much better), but contacts are pretty uncomfortable now which is why I hardly ever wear them.
I will check out all your links, and thanks for the pics too! Delicateshamu, I like both the ones you posted, especially the second pair. I love the red hair, are you still a red-head?

Thanks! Yes, I am! I went red about 4-5 months ago and I don't think I'll ever go back to the blonde! I love it!
I wear glasses daily. I can't tolerate contacts because of a protein anomaly and am too old for Lasik. I could get it but would still need a reader.
My advice would be to talk to people IRL who have nice glasses and ask them where they got them. I buy mine at a local boutique optician. He has a range of fabulous stuff at all price points and is cheaper than Pearl. I find glasses have to be tried on much as clothing or jewelry does.
My current pair are a quirky OGI tortie frame that was really inexpensive. My sunglasses are a Tory Burch aviator.
