We decided to take the girls to Sesame Place at the end of July. It's a 6.5 hour drive, so we're going to spend about 2 days at the park. I'm excited to finally take them on a little "action packed" getaway, but nervous that they'll have meltdowns during the drive, or at the park.
We already booked our hotel, some of our meals, and a private cabana. However, if you've been, I'd love to hear about your experience
We have season passes and I've been a bunch of times. We started going when DD was 19 mos and now she is 4and 1/2 and she always loves it. By the time you go "Cookies Monster Land" will be open. This is a new area with more rides and a play area for younger kids. They are previewing it for season pass holders this weekend so I'll let you know how it is. There is a good balance between dry rides and waterslides/pool areas. They also have 3 shows, a parade, and a character storytime. Storytime isn't as well known, but the schedule is on the general show schedule and it's held in Hooper's Emporium. They read a short Sesame Street book and then the kids can meet the character. Even though our daughter doesn't need a stroller anymore (the park is pretty small) we always bring it so we have a place to put our stuff without renting a locker. The food is overpriced and not that good, but it's adequate. Kids' meals come with a souvenir plate and cup. Let me know if you have more questions.
bronxgirl, what do you think would be a good age me to take DD? She loves Sesame Street, especially Abby Cadabby and Burt & Ernie, and I'm a big fan, too. We will have to fly so I'd like to plan for an age where she could ride and enjoy most of the rides, or at least enough to keep us busy.

Thanks for the heads up on story time...my girls would love that. Have a great time this weekend, and definitely let me know how Cookie Monster Land is!

I think by age 2 there will definitely be enough to do to stay busy the whole time, but if you want to be able to go on all the rides then I would say maybe around age 4. Personally I think the water slides are geared towards slightly older kids, but the rest of the rides are pretty tame. There are also some pools and splash areas for little kids.

I have no doubt your girls will enjoy every minute in the park. As for the 5-6 hour drive, I think the excitement and anticipation will hold them in good stead. Bring some fun games to keep them occupied.
FYI Cookie's Monster Land has finally open. It was pretty fun. There are three new rides which were pretty fun. Unfortunately they got rid of the play area for younger kids.
I am headed to Sesame Place on Friday, we have a 6 hour drive. My daughter is 3.5...do I need to bring a life jacket for her, or just a bathing suit? Is it safe to bring a stroller and feel safe about leaving our stuff in it or should I rent a locker?

we always leave our stuff in the stroller. I take my purse out, but we leave everything else in it and never ad any problems. They have life jackets there.
