I am trying to decide if we should add a stop in between on our last full day.
We arrive in Venice on a Wednesday morning and depart from Venice the following Monday morning. We will spend our first two days in Venice, take an early train to Florence Friday morning for another two full days, and return to Venice late Sunday afternoon. Is it worth stopping in Bologna or another in-between city on our way back to Venice, or would it be better to take our time in Florence on our last day?
Also, can anyone offer any hotel and/or neighborhood recommendations? TIA!
I don't know about another stop--it will mean packing and unpacking and checking out and checking in another time. Maybe look into day trips from Florence if you want to see more.

We were in Florence for three days, and I definitely could have enjoyed another. It's a good lingering city IMO and if you don't agree and get restless while you're there, you can always spend one of those days in the countryside!
We stayed at the Continetale and really liked it. Amazing location, and amazing rooftop bar with views.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I wouldn't stop in Bologna. I stopped there on my Venice, Bologna, Florence Rome trip last year and wished I had spent another day in Venice. There just wasn't much to see in Bologna (for me at least). I did 2 days in Venice - nowhere near enough time. And 4 days in Florence - which was enough.
I can't rec hotels cause mine weren't the greatest on cheap package deal. My hotel in Venice was near the train station. I wouldn't really rec staying near there. It's just kind of meh. Not very charming.
