I know we do this all the time, but tell me what to read. We're going to Grand Cayman on Tuesday for a friend's wedding. I plan to spend a lot of time reading on the beach. Light, heavy, doesn't really matter. I just need to be able to get sucked in immediately. I tend to discard anything that's not holding my interest after a couple of chapters.
Some things I have read and enjoyed, to get a sense of what I like. I am NOT into historical/period novels, fact or fiction. I do not like the writing style.
The Maze Runner Thieves I've Known Orphan Train The Bone Season The Night Circus Middlesex The Time Traveler's Wife Water for Elephants The Fault In Our Stars The Glass Castle All the Gilian Flynn books Harry Potter Divergent
Since it seems you like some mystery/suspense, I'd recommend anything by Kevin O'Brien. His books are very creepy (a la Gillian Flynn a little bit, maybe not as dark), and they always draw me in immediately. His novels are all stand-alone, so pick any that has an interesting-sounding synopsis.
For nonfiction, I enjoyed Wild by Cheryl Strayed recently, which documents her trek on the Pacific Crest Trail. I thought she had a nice writing style. Her descriptions of the trail and the people she met never got boring.
Flight Behavior (little slow but I liked it) Me Before You The Silver Star (another Jeanette Walls) The Art of Fielding The Dog Stars Beautiful Ruins Gone Girl Shades of Grey (not to be confused!!! It's dystopian)

I've read and enjoyed Wild. I'll look up Kevin O'Brien. Thanks!
isabel.. Try The Immortal Rules or The Immortal Circus. Two different trilogies but both amazing. If you don't like either, I will let you have free reign to borrow anything in my extensive Kindle library.
Trust me.
Are they worth buying? The library doesn't have them, but I remember you talking about how great The Immortal Circus was.
