We're supposed to be on our way to Grand Cayman, but we were bumped from our flight for being late. They let on a couple stand by people before we got there. I'm pretty pissed, but we don't have a legal leg to stand on, so whatever. Not the point.
They rebooked us on the same flight tomorrow, or so we thought. Instead, she booked us through Houston today, but we won't fly to GC until tomorrow. I can get this changed and have them book it tomorrow instead.
So now we're torn. We could work on moving stuff into the new house, pick out paint, etc. then have a nice dinner and stay at a hotel by the airport for our flight tomorrow.
Or
We can keep the incorrect tickets, fly to Houston today, explore, have dinner, and stay in a hotel there, then fly to GC tomorrow.
Which would you choose?
Update: we went to Uchi for dinner. Holy. You guys. If you live in Houston, or visit, go there! It is one of the best meals DH and I have ever had. We eat at a lot of great restaurants, but this was fantastic! Worth the hassle for sure.
Just a warning, it is already in the 90s and we had rain this morning so humidity is pretty high. The airports are pretty far out from anything "touristy" so if you can get a hotel in the Galleria area or Downtown, you will definitely have more fun.

Room service and swimming in the hotel pool, you say? Got it.
Depending on where you stay I am sure we can recommend some good restaurants. Houston is known for fabulous food so I wouldn't limit the experience to room service.

Where would you stay/eat? We're totally open to suggestion.
Definitely go to Houston. You're supposed to be on vacation. No way would I stay home to do work around the house. A night in a hotel is always preferable! Hello room service and just being lazy.
You may want to look into renting a car. IAH is pretty far out of the way and cabs can be pricey. Forget public transportation, doesn't really exist here.

Ok. I'll talk to H about it. If we rent a car and stay away from the airport, would it be better to be downtown or near the galleria? Or are they close? I've never been to Houston.
I am in the Galleria area and I can see downtown from here. It's not all that far. Most of the big name hotels are all really nice.
Ok, looks like H is booking a car and a hotel in the galleria area. So , where should we eat? Breakfast, too. Our flight tomorrow doesn't leave until noon.
Kenny & Ziggy's on Post Oak is really good and serves breakfast if you don't want to wait as long at the Breakfast Klub El Tiempo is AWESOME so I 2nd that! Also, Del Frisco IN the Galleria. Truluck's and Capital Grille are good. If you like wine bars, The Tasting Room in Uptown park is pretty cool.
I am a fan of the breakfast taco. Two of my favorites are Chacho's (there is one on Westheimer a few miles down from the Galleria) and Torchy's in the Village.
Torchy's is really good as well. My co-worker brings them in every so often.
Oh, and you should try a kolache. Not the fruit one but the sausage & cheese. Old Towne Kolache on Westheimer (a few miles west of the Galleria) is good.
