A few years ago I bid 4 star Millennium Park and got Palmer House Hilton for $60 a night. It's not very modern but pretty nice for that price. They sell a lot of rooms via priceline, I think. I would check betterbidding.com.
It may have been Hotwire, but I used it a few years back and got the millennium hotel on Michigan Ave. I think I paid $95/night over 4th of July weekend. I can't remember if it was 3.5 or 4 star category.
I just bid $99/night for The Loop/Mag Mile area and was declined.
Then I upped it to $125/night. Declined again.
Then I increased to $135/night. SHOT DOWN.
This is for mid-July 2014.
So I went to Hotwire and ended up with the Hyatt Regency for $135/night. I'm OK with that. But I always think back to the amazing deals you could get 5-6 years ago and I feel like I should still be able to get those deals. But I can't.

Exactly! I'm looking for late July. Even just last year I got great deals on hotels in NYC and NOLA.
