Hi ladies! The baby and I are heading back out to the north shore (Lynn) on Thursday and will be In town all next week and into the weekend. Hoping to do some serious house hunting and hanging out and need to get fitted for new running shoes. My old ones didn't survive pregnancy. Any recs for a good spot to get fitted? Willing to travel a bit.
Are there any great running trails I should check out?
Are there any fun things I could check out with a one year old? Libraries, music, etc?
And if anyone is available for lunch dates and wants to meet said cute one year old, we would love to meet!
Hi! The only thing I can help you with is the running shoes - the place to get fitted is Marathon Sports. I've only been to their Cambridge and Boston locations, but it looks like there is one in Melrose too. I'm unfortunately not around much the next week (this weekend is booked up then we're going to NY for the 4th), maybe next time!
Fabulous, thanks! I will definitely check them out. Have fun in NY!

Isn't there a children's museum somewhere on the north shore (as opposed to the one in fort point channel)?
My H used to run on this trail that went along the water in Marblehead. I can ask him about it. If you want to go on a really beautiful run, from Lynn, run out the causeway to Nahant and run all over Nahant. I spent a summer interning at the Nahant Historical Society and it holds a special place in my heart.

Nahant is a fantastic idea. It hadnt even occured to me! I'll look into the children's museum too, thanks!

I've gone to the New England Running Store in Beverly and Greater Boston Running Company in both Andover and Newburyport to get fitted for running shoes.
I have been running at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield a lot lately and there is a running group there that does a 5k every Wednesday evening at 6:45pm. I just joined and it seems like a great place to meet runners and it is well run with a water stop at the halfway point and water and snack at the end. My sister has run the bike trail in Peabody and Danvers as well.
I'll be gone June 28th thru July 3rd but might be up for something on the 5th or 6th if your around. I live a bit further North now but grew up in Peabody.

Great info, thanks! Is the group in wakefield you have to join or can you go as a drop in? The lake is beautiful, I had forgotten about it. Do you happen to know how long the loop is?
We are heading out to the cape on the 5th so we will just miss each other. Next time maybe!
Hi! I've also heard great things about Marathon Sports for fittings so definitely see if there's a location that's convenient for you.
There's a new Legoland in Somerville somewhere I believe. Children's Museum in Boston is great, if you don't mind going into town, but not sure a one-year-old would appreciate it.
I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to GTG with you this trip. I'm in Mexico until Friday night and have some commitments over the weekend, then a ton of work to catch up on during the week and family stuff over the 4th of July weekend. Might have to wait until next time, sorry!

You can definitely drop in at the group in Wakefield. It is $2 for a run and they time you and give you water/snacks. They meet at the Clarion Inn in Wakefield. The name of the group is called The Mystics. They do 3.1 miles to make it a perfect 5k.
I'm not sure the distances on the bike paths, but the one in Peabody is called the Independence Greenway and if you google it you can find a map of it. Here's the link to the one in Danvers (http://www.danversrailtrail.org/).

Thank you so much! I will definitely try and get to the run in Wakefield. Maybe I'll see you there!
We are interested in Chelmsford, Littleton, Westford, N. Andover and Andover. Next week we will look at Acton and a place in Tyngsboro that my husband saw and really liked and go back to Westford.

I have a friend that just bought a house in Acton. I think the schools are supposed to be pretty good.

Not paved, but if you're looking for a nice place to hike, check out Lynn Woods. I just went there for the first time a few weeks ago and it's beautiful!
I've been fitted for running shoes at Marathon Sports in Melrose. They were great.

We landed in Dracut after first looking a bit further south/closer to 95. We've been here almost a year.

I forgot that was happening this weekend. Sadly I'll be sipping pina coladas on vacation.

The schools are great in Acton (I live nearby). However, I would not want to live there because of the rotary (in front of the Concord prison). That thing is a jammed nightmare every day, no matter what time. Just a warning, lol.
I'm going strawberry picking with my boys in Boxford Friday morning if you want to join us. Also, we live in Westford if you have any specific questions about the area.

That sounds really fun! I have a ton to do to get ready for her birthday party on Saturday so I'm going to have to take a raincheck. But I will definitely pick your brain about Westford as we start looking more. Thanks!
