Does anyone here have endo? What has your experience been with treating and diagnosing it? I have suspected endo but and not sure I want to go through the diagnostic surgery unless the pain relief from it is significant.
My period cramps are almost unbearable the first two days and nothing helps. Every time I get cd1 I tell myself if this is what natural labor feels like I would never be able to do it! Like today for example ha.
They think I have it but I haven't had the surgery yet. I've done 3 IUI's and they want to do 1 IVF before I think about having the surgery. My periods hurt so badly and sex at certain times of the month are painful as well. I have cysts on my ovaries and a shadow on my uterus they think is endo. They said my chances of IUI success was lower if I do have it, but it doesn't decrease my chances with IVF. SO I'm going to give it a go and if it doesn't work, I'm going to have the surgery.
My mom had it but didn't really treat it prior to getting pregnant with me. She did like clomid and stuff, but says she finally got pregnant when she relaxed. Helpful, ma. She dealt with it for years and eventually got a hysterectomy when she was in her early 40s. Sorry that's not the answer you wanted, it's the only experience I have.
I have it. Had the surgery (lapro) about 3.5 years ago. No pain since. I have an IUD as having no period helps slow regrowth.
So you only had one survey then? How was it and the recovery? Glad to hear your pain is gone!
One surgery. At the time I was diagnosed I had no symptoms (very regular periods, etc, too) and then all of the sudden I had constant jabbing pain in my right side.
I kept pointing too high up on my abdomen, so they didn't initially think it was that.
I had the surgery in December and decided to do it because they eventually suspected endo and I had insurance that paid everything so I didn't have to come out of pocket. It was scheduled to change to a different insurance in January. They said I could wait and try to mitigate the pain with BC pills or other measures (cannot recall), or I could do the lap.
I had nagging pain so I decided to do the lap.
Fortunately, I have not had a symptom since. I will probably always have to have an IUD for the foreseeable future (unless I stop to TTC), as not having a period slows the tissue growth.
Recovery was painful, but only for a day or so. The next day I went to swing my leg to get out of bed and I was really sore. I needed pain meds, but I am a wimp. It was more bloating than anything, probably.

I have Stage 4 endo. Prior to diagnosis, I always had bad cramps and deep pelvic pain during sex and pelvic exams. I would also get a really bad upset stomach during my period. I had a lap in Sept 2008, and the gyn removed "chocolate cysts" from my bladder, bowel, ute, tubes, and cul de sac. I went on Lupron for 6 months (IT'S THE DEVIL. DON'T DO IT!) and then TTC for about 10 months. Finally got pregnant with DS in March 2010.
I have endo, had surgery last February. I started having extremely painful periods when I was about 17, but first tried other hormonal pills, then did birth control in college - but about in the year and a half or so before I finally had surgery things got really bad - a lot of pain and other bleeding throughout the month, sex often hurt, couldn't keep food down during my period, etc. I found a good doctor, but still it was a process before we finally went to surgery because he wanted to make sure we ruled out any other possibilities before going to surgery - which I appreciated, but it meant things took a while. I had an MRI, colonoscopy, and finally the laparoscopic surgery. They found endo and exised all they could see, but it was on my left ovary in a few spots and they weren't able to remove that without damaging the ovary, so they just burned that off and it will grow back, they said. They also found a few cysts and removed those.
I went on birth control after my surgery that made me feel awful, started bleeding constantly again, etc. so finally switched to a different one and that one wasn't nearly as bad, but I haven't been pain free either. I stopped taking bc in June because we want to start TTC (and my doctor advised we try sooner after my surgery rather than later) and my period this last month was awwwful again. I'm not sure what to make of that. I had expected things to be much better after the surgery.
gmail Glad I decided not to try Lupron - my doctor presented it as an option but didn't press it and I didn't like the sound of it.
