I know it wasn't talked about over here, but the ruling on Hobby Lobby has really made me upset. I've been asking myself what else I can do to help. I already donate fairly decent amounts of money to Planned Parenthood. I also donate to a fund that provides women in need with the money needed to get abortions, even helping with travel expenses. But, I want to do more. I'm sick and tired of women being put down and having our health at risk because a bunch of old men think we shouldn't be having sex.
Thanks PS. I guess I just feel as if it's not enough. I think I'm just overly upset after reading comment after comment in favor the decision. I think I need to stop doing that.
I'm trying to figure this out too. I think one step is talking with people and trying to help them understand why this is such a big deal. I know anything on FB is seen as "slactivism" or whatever but I do hope that there might be some people who change their minds after reading things I share because it helps them become better educated and/or gives then a perspective they didn't have before.
I want to do something big. Marching in the streets big. I'm just not sure what to do next.

I've seen the things you posted. Thank you for that. I do think that some people's minds can be changed.
And I'm with you here. If we had Hobby Lobby, my ass would be marching in front of their store stat.

Thank you. And I agree about marching in front of their stores.
I've been keeping an eye on CEP to see what ideas they have because I feel like if I do nothing, I'm just rolling over and accepting that corporations have better legal standing than women in this country. I cannot sit by and do nothing in the face of such blatant misogyny.
It has me so angry and FB has added to it. People saying its no big deal, its only BC women should pay for it themselves, blah blah. Some of them I thought were intelligent, but of course I was wrong.
I have posted many items, but as you know the ignorant will continue to be ignorant. I've never shopped there, I give to PP, Ive wriiten to my politicians, ive written to newspapers, ive supported politicians I believe in $, I do not know what else I can do and im so glad to see someone else feeling like I do. I try and keep politics away from here, but im so glad you brought it up!
I know this isn't CEP, but the comments about just letting it blow over and living in a bubble (here and elsewhere) frustrate me. This is how we lose our rights. Slowly, a little at a time. It's being pretty clearly communicated now that women are viewed as "less than" by many in this country. Including the people on a court supposed to prevent these things from happening by upholding the Constitution. Inaction makes those of us who do take action have to work harder and allows others to see us as some crazy women who are just overreacting (further marginalizing us). I don't want to leave my rights up to who is motivated enough to fight for them. I'm going to be motivated enough to fight for them. Any I'm going to continue educating others, as I have for years, about these issues.

I guess I just don't really care until it directly affects me.
Which is part of the problem, isn't it? I'm assuming you are a woman so I'm not sure how this DOESN'T affect you. Or how any issues about women's health, fair pay, etc, doesn't affect you. Just because you may not be in need of those services now, doesn't mean it will be that way forever.
I can't take BC so it actually doesn't affect me. But I honestly have no idea what it is all about so I probably shouldn't talk. And vasectomies are essentially bc. I also work for a company who manufacturers bcp's so if I could take them, then I get them for free anyway. I don't mean to sound snarky and I get this is a lot bigger issue than I am making it out to be. I really did not read one thing about it. I am so busy all the time that I never watch to the news or read anything that doesn't immediately concern me. As I said, I really should have just kept my mouth shut regarding this because clearly I am uneducated about it.

Yes. Birth control for MEN.
Granted, I do think they should be covered, just like tubals.
If the BC part doesn't feel relevant, look at the corporate personhood angle. And the fact that this is a decision made by men that impacts only women, and that the Supreme Court majority decision said that this isn't discrimination and that this can't be used to cloak other forms of discrimination based on race. There's SO MUCH wrong with this decision, not the least of which is the fact that corporations cannot have religious beliefs because they're NOT PEOPLE, but the Court is saying they can.
