So I've been thinking about doing something fun to my hair for awhile now and I think I've decided what I want to do.
I've got naturally curly hair, that I can easily straighten and often do. It's dark brown/black and about to my boobs curly. Even longer when it's straight. (But I'm sure that will change with a trim.)
I'm thinking of doing the ombre look but with red. I found some photos on pinterest...something like this
I can't figure out how to add a photo of myself....ugh.
Ya, I've been dying my hair since high school (7-8 years) so I'm not worried about it damaging my curls. My curls are "ruined" from relaxing it in high school ALL the time. Before straighteners became all awesome.
I really hate getting my hair done. LOL. I'm extremely tender-headed, but my sister knows this so I trust her.

I like it. There's a lot of dark hair with red out there right now. I give my stylist creative liberty all the time and those appointments are by far my favorite cuts/colors. If you don't restrict a stylist or makeup artist, you will ge some of their best work.
The best reds and pinks by far are made by Kadus. It's a line that's big in the music industry and (I think CA and NY). It's super gentle and as natural as a professional color can get. People think I'm a natural blonde and I went from dark brown to platinum. My pink and purple get touched up at every other appointment and I go 6-8 weeks between appointments, which means the pink and purple actually go for 12-16 weeks. If your sister can get that line of color, it will not be nearly as high maintenace.
Cab, find it in a salon. My owner has a house in Malibu. I can see if she knows a place near you that does this.

I think some people are more conservative than others and ombre makes them think of grown out roots. I've seen it some really well done and love it done right. It's when ombre goes wrong that it looks bad.
Just remember, that Kadus doesn't fade fast making quick color changes more difficult. Their Bleaching Powder is life changing. I just saw my Mom's stylist for a bang trim and it took a longer since she couldn't believe how soft my hair is after bleach. I've had more than one person ask if I'm a natural blonde.
O that's true, if ombre is too high up it looks awful.
What's the bleaching powder? I'd love to put pink in my hair, but I'm terrified of bleaching it.
Here's a link to their site. It's actually called Blonding Powder and can lift up to 7 shade levels. They just took it straight out of the can and rubbed it from root to ends with gloves on.
I wouldn't order it from anyone that's not an approved retailer. It is only sold to licensed stylists which makes me think people may try to resell bad product.
I love ombre hair, and just got mine done again today! No crazy colors but I do love that look, I think the red and dark will look awesome. I also agree with the ladies who give their stylists creative freedom. I've been going to my friend for years now and trust her every bit. I'll come with ideas sometimes but I let her take the reigns from there and have always loved the results.
