I think I'm getting a summer cold. I feel blah, I'm on my second day of a sore throat and stuffy nose. I need to call in sick and that's not happening; DH can't take off work right now.
Unfortunately, DH is OOT from Saturday through the week for work. I'm getting to the point where I really need two days off to recover. My mom is coming down Sunday to help, but it's not the same. This summer has been non-stop and I need a break, I feel like I've been continuously on since the start of June!
Yay for good weather. I'm hoping to play a lot in the backyard today.

My throat was sore yesterday so I may be getting sick too. Wtf?
MIL is coming in today. Last time she was here was pretty terrible. (Called adopted kids "throwaway kids", let me know my rug is in fact machine washable, didn't change or feed the baby once, watched TV while I was doing laundry and dishes and vacuuming a few weeks pp.)
DD's summer tumbling class was just canceled since she's the only student enrolled. She loves that class so much. I seriously cried when I listened to the message. We can't make the other class time.
DD also threw up this morning, so it's not shaping up to be a very good day.
DD has suddenly started refusing the paci…she clenches her little mouth shut and shakes her head back and forth as soon as she sees it. WTH? Normal? (She's 4.5 months)
She was never huge paci addict but we did use them to help calm her down for naps. Now I am stuck nursing her to get her down.

Does she show any interest in sucking on her hands that could move to sucking her thumb? AJ started being a little less fond of the paci a couple of weeks before he found his thumb, and he was 5 months when that happened. As much as I know it'll be a PITA to break later, it's been a game changer for us all.
Plus now I don't worry about the dog eating his pacis anymore. score!
DH is super stressed at work . He went in at 5 this morning.
He's a good team player manager but I think he's enabled some laziness by helping everyone around him with their fires and then he gets nothing he needs to do done. I wish I could impart some of my don't give a shit attitude about non-important things to him. I think I'm going to force him to read 7 habits or something.

Her fingers (and mine, lol) are in her mouth ALL the TIME, but I'm not sure she shows and preference for the thumb. That would be ok with me though!
I hope she still likes playing with her wubs, since we own three of them!
DS has some sort of cold happening. New daycare, new kids, new germs to catch? We had our worst night in his entire 8 months Tuesday into Wednesday. He slept on me in the recliner the whole night, so I didn't really sleep. I called in yesterday & brought him into the pedi, thankfully no ear infection. Another rough night last night, at least DH ended up being home to help this time.
DH got DS up this morning and didn't notice he had a fever. I noticed when I was getting him dressed, 5 minutes before we were set to leave. I couldn't call in because I did yesterday, and DH has to call in by a certain time and we missed that window. MOTY dosed DS up with medicine and dropped off at daycare. Waiting for the phone to ring in about 4 hours when the meds wear off. Poor kiddo.

It was like a switch flipped for AJ one day...he was sucking his fingers then all of a sudden boom! The thumb was in his mouth. I gotta say it's pretty adorable Hope whatever's going on with the paci refusal sorts itself out soon!
We're out of milk and it's making me grumpy because I couldn't have my usual raisin bran for breakfast. Not sure when either of us will make it to the store to buy more.
We have been getting quotes to landscape our (small and urban) backyard. We were horrified when the first came in at $15k, so we kept looking. The latest is a laughable $38k!!!! Lol. Umm, no. Just no.
When we moved here a couple years ago I was shocked at how expensive it was to have simple landscaping done on our (also small and urban) yard. We did end up getting it done for a reasonable price but I had to get several quotes. Keep looking! Good luck!

an idea: try googling hydrogen peroxide in ears. apparently a cold can sometimes be nipped in the bud by putting peroxide in your ears and letting it bubble/frizzle out if you catch it early.
How do you get a toddler to pace themselves on applesauce/water to make sure they can keep it down without them throwing a fit? I feel awful because I know DD is hungry, but she threw up this morning, and I don't know if it was a one-time thing or not yet, so I'd rather her not totally fill her stomach right now. Her begging for more applesauce and more water is making me so sad, though.

We have a nice relaxing morning around the House planned. I'd kind of like to go for av walk, but I love at the top of a hill, so the walk back is always hard. We might just go across the street to watch some new house construction and play outside. It's supposed to be beautiful.
I have a doctor appointment today. After your due date do you increase the frequency?

Tomorrow is my birthday and we are celebrating with family and friends tonight so H wanted to give me my bday present early. I actually think he nailed it-he got me a gorgeous turquoise Kate Spade wallet.
BUT, I was thinking, damn, H, you could have gotten this for $50 cheaper if you would have waited for the Kate Spade weekly Surprise Sale.
swizz hugs - I am so sorry you are going through this
I am getting a cold, I have to spend the weekend with my inlaws and M has turned into the what can only be classifed as Lucifer at times with his massive meltdowns and tantrums. Nothing is looking postive about this upcoming weekend.

DD was puking last week and now she has a summer cold. Her nighttime coughing is going to drive me over the edge. I also think the antibiotics I'm on for a UTI aren't really working, because almost a week in I don't quite still feel right. It's been a great couple of weeks!
Today the weather is better here. Only super cloudy with afternoon showers. After two days of all day rain, I guess I should be happy? Even the weather was better in London. They had sun. I am bitter. Bitter.
But on the plus side, LO was super cute today when we out for breakfast. She really knows how to charm everyone.
I'm overwhelmed with doctors appointments for myself and B. In July alone, we see (for B) an endo, gastro, geneticist, spine surgeon, hand specialist who is 2.5 hours away so I have to take the day off, and he had a barium enema as well as a hearing test (he's fine, but they check him every year due to something he was born with).
For me, I had a fertility consult, bloodwork, HSG, mammogram, and god only knows what else will come up this month!
Oh yeah, and I work full-time, and 99% of these appointments are during working hours! My bosses are awesome about all of this but I'm starting to feel like I'm taking advantage of my flexibility here.
We put in an offer on a house yesterday morning, the sellers reviewed it last night and we still haven't heard anything! It's only been on the market for 4 days, so they may hold onto our offer for the full 5 days they're allowed to, to see if they get any more offers. Which is super annoying! The waiting game is so hard.
DD's summer camp for this week is not living up to the expectations I had for it. Its everything from last minute location changes, changes to drop off and pick up time as well as the content (its an educational camp).
If I don't get a survey at the end of the week, I will be following up with the provider about my concerns.

Ha! My small urban front yard quote came back at $38K this summer. It did have concrete raised bed planters & pavers but damn--it's a small space & had minimal plants (I wanted an urban garden so I'd be growing veggies). We decided to shelve the plan for now, went & bought boxwoods, edging & mulch (we already have grass & a sprinkler system)...it took a weekend & $700.
We are on vacation and my glands are so swollen. It could be allergies, but I'm wondering if it's my thyroid? I think I'll get it checked when we get home.
My baby is a whiny mess today. He's back to waking every sleep cycle and he's been teething and we'll be OOT across several time zones in a little over a week so, I think it's just going to suck for the time being.
I tried to let him CIO a bit last night but with DH on edge already I don't think that's really a viable solution right now.
