So there are things I want to eat, but since they come from small restaurants and not national chains, I can't figure out WHAT their calorie count is and so I have to keep skipping yummy food!
For instance, I want to order a bun dish from the Vietnamese place near work but I'm at a loss. I like the bun bo xao: Sliced beef stir fried with lemon grass, garlic, onion. All rice noodle dishes are served in a bowl with fresh leaf lettuce, fragrant herbs, bean sprouts, cucumbers, carrots, daikon radish, chopped peanuts.
Peanuts is like maybe 2 tbs chopped, but I can't really estimate the rice noodle or the beef.
Are you on MFP? Their data base is huge and usually if I start typing the name of the food something comes up. It's not precise, but I usually try and guess off of that.

when i used to calorie count, i would use best estimates based on serving size and what it's made out of, etc. in this case, i would estimate for noodles, beef, and peanuts...then lump veggies together as probably 50 calories or so.
