I have couple of questions that I figure I would just put in one post.
Workout clothes- Did you buy maternity workout clothes? Where did you find them? I really just want some athletic shorts, but everything I've seen is yoga pant type stuff. I might just be stuck with that.
Jeans- I'd like to get a few pair of nice jeans that I can wear a lot. I normally wear AE jeans, so I'm not sure where I should look.
Pre-natal Yoga- I haven't been running, so I've been sticking to walking and the elliptical. I've never done yoga before, so is it silly to want to try pre-natal yoga now?
I'm 14 weeks today, and I'm not sure what I should be doing. I know there's not a lot to be doing right now, but I feel like I should be reading a bunch or something. I have researched car seats and strollers a little bit, but that's pretty much it.
Workout clothes: are you a member of Costco, or have a friend who is? They have tanks that are knockoffs of LLL cool racerbacks. They are like $10/piece, and are super long. Those, and low slung running shorts/yoga tights do the trick for me.
Jeans: I used a Bella band as long as I could, but then last time I just tried on a million maternity jeans until I found something good - Gap maternity were my favorite. I did buy a pair of jeggings last time, too
Prenatal yoga: start any time. It won't be overly vigorous.

workout clothes- I haven't bought any, but I haven't been that great at working out either. I still have some yoga pants that fit me (they were too big before).
jeans- I have one pair from motherhood maternity of skinny jeans. Other than that I tried on some Sevens and other name brands, but am kinda happy I didn't get them. A-they wouldn't still fit probably, I was 16 weeks when i tried them on and am almost 34 now, not everything fits the same, and b- its the summer, so I just wear dresses everyday.
For you, get a cheaper pair now, then if you want an expensive pair wait till you're a little further along, since you'll be pregnant in colder months.
yoga- love it, not silly at all to want to try, people are at all stages of pregnancy.
The beginning is such a waiting game, felt too early to buy things, but I wanted to be proactive.

Workout clothes - I actually got some tanks and shorts from Old Navy, they have been working out great.
Jeans - I found a couple of pretty comfortable/nice jeans from Target (since I wear them to work on Fridays, they need to be nicer), and I have had good luck with them.
Yoga - definitely say to try it if you want, I've heard great things about it!!
I just wear yoga pants, so no help there. But I would highly recommend prenatal yoga. In theory it is good preparation for labor, and no prior yoga experience is necessary! The stretching helps all sorts of aches and pains that you will probably develop over the next few months.
Workout clothes: I ended up buying sports bras a few sizes up from my pre-pregnancy size at Target because I went from a 34B to a 38D and really needed the support. For running and going to the gym, I was able to just wear DH's t-shirts or those free t-shirts they give away at baseball games, etc. that are always a size L or XL.
My running pants (stretchy) fit for a while and then I went to wearing maternity yoga pants. My maternity yoga pants are Gap brand. I also got a few cheap maternity tank tops at Old Navy for yoga classes. (If you decide to do yoga, you'll find that you might not want a flowy t-shirt when you're doing things like downward dog, etc., because they will ride right up.)
Jeans: This all depends on your body type. Maternity jeans are just as much of a PITA to find a good fit as regular jeans. I've had luck with the same brands I wore pre-pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga: Go for it! I am a HUGE yoga fan, so of course I am biased. But I am on my second pregnancy and have met people in my prenatal yoga classes both times who had zero yoga experience and still got a lot out of yoga while pregnant. Plus, it's a nice way to meet other pregnant moms.
I'm still wearing my regular work out clothes - they're from Target. Pair of capris and some tanks. I did have to get a new sports bra since my boobs grew. I'd check out Old Navy though. I have a pair of maternity yoga capris but haven't worn them yet. I also have a pair of black shorts that I wear a lot.
It's hot here so I haven't worn jeans but my cousin gave me a pair of ON jeans and they were super comfy. I also love shopping there for any maternity stuff - skirts, dresses, tanks, etc. Just wait for a 30% off sale and if you don't like anything you can return stuff at any ON store, even if they don't sell maternity.
I've been just walking since I stopped running a week ago. I wanted to try prenatal yoga but we only have 1 class in town and it's pricey. You can also try swimming.
For books I recommend Baby Bargains. It really helped me when doing our registry. I downloaded a spreadsheet from BRU that had a list of everything you need to buy and went from there and started researching each category. Target was one of my favorite places online to look because I would sort by top rated items and go from there for brands.
Thanks everyone! I should probably look into getting new sports bras becuse it's getting harder to fit into the ones I have.
Luckily I have some time to figure out the jeans thing between being too hot for them and not big enough to really need them yet. I might try the bella band with my regular jeans until the fall, and then see what I can find.
Workout clothes - I bought yoga pants and a top from ON. (actually I bought 2 and returned 1). ON has shorts, Gap may as well. I have 2 pair of the same style Gap jeans and one pair from Kohls, whatever their maternity line is. I was able to wear a pair of ON Rockstar skinnies until ~23 weeks without a Bella band or using the hairtie trick or anything, but after 23 weeks it was too warm for pants anyway. N/A on the yoga. It was recommended to me, but it's not really my thing.
Workout clothes- I didn't buy maternity workout clothes. All of my LLL tops and pants still fit. But I have also been on exercise restrictions since 20 weeks. So now I only walk my dog in the AM for twenty minutes. But my LLL pants and old race tshirts fit just fine.
Jeans- I bought two pair of maternity jeans. One pair from Gap and the other white pair from J.Crew. Both have fit me so far my entire pregnancy.
Pre-natal Yoga- I had only tried yoga as part of a cardio DVD program I did in the past. I had no real experience at all. But at 12 weeks I decided to sign up for prenatal yoga at a local studio. I'm so glad I did. The community of pregnant women was worth it all by itself. At the beginning of each class we would go around the room and say how far along we were, and any questions/complications we wanted to discuss. It was great learning and hearing from everyone. Especially watching their progress as the weeks went on. I had sciatic pain and the yoga really helped with that. I had to stop prenatal yoga at 28 weeks and I was so bummed. I really miss the community of women. So I say definitely try it, I hear its good for labor as well.
Honestly, at 14 weeks I was just getting to the point where I was feeling good. You have time to do whatever research you want to do. For me, it was helpful to group my to do list month by month. I had certain things I wanted to accomplish each month and I stuck to it. But I like lists and I'm pretty type A.
I've been wearing my H's basketball shorts, but did get a pair of maternity capris from Kohl's. Both have been comfortable for me so far but I've only been walking.
I got some maternity Gap jeans from eBay, but have only worn them a few times since it's been so warm here. I normally wear Gap jeans, so I like that these are just the maternity version of my usual jeans and they were in good condition.
My aunt gave me a prenatal/postnatal yoga DVD that she never used. I never did much yoga before either, but I like it. Maybe that would be an option for you, so you can see how you like it before you sign up for a class.
for the work out clothes i second the rec to look at costco if you can. i got the lulu knock-off tank in every color in a size larger and i love it. now, i don't actually wear it for working out, i wear it around the house as loungewear and to bed each night, but it's stretchy and so soft and comfy and still fitting me fine at 38 weeks tomorrow.
for jeans i went with gap and old navy. gap is where i got my jeans before so i knew what size/fit i was looking for and shopped the sale section to pick up some good deals. i got a mix of the demi panel and full panel since demi were more comfy earlier and full were better later. i got mostly dark washes in classic styles/cuts so that i can keep them around for a future pregnancy.
Thank you for this recommendation! I downloaded the checklists from BRU and like I at least have a starting point for the registry! Cannot wait for Monday to get this all started! Also interested in reading Baby Bargains!

tacocat- I am also still wearing my same workout clothes and hope to not have to buy any new ones (I have tons of running shorts, etc and just wear a very casual maternity tank top or even pre-pg tank tops for now).
I did get a pair of jeans donated to me from a friend and they are great.
Ditto PP on prenatal yoga! I think you should give it a try! This is something that I've been wanting to do as well but haven't made the time. Hopefully once summer is over and our schedules aren't so chaotic I will find a class and start going.
The only maternity workout wear I bought were yoga pants from Old Navy. I did have some loose meshy-type non-maternity athletic shorts that I was able to wear until 30 weeks or so.
I bought some Paige jeans that I was really excited about, but either I bought a size too big or the under-belly waistline didn't work for me. IMO the most important factor in maternity jeans is a full panel waistband so that they stay up. I wore my ON jeans 10x more than my expensive Paige jeans. (wilted)
I was an avid prenatal yoga goer after having done regular yoga just a handful of times in my life. There will be a range of skill levels in a prenatal class, but there is certainly no need for previous yoga experience. Prenatal yoga is challenging (for me) but doesn't have crazy stuff like headstands, and you are encouraged to back off if any of the poses feel too difficult. I may have been the worst person in my yoga class, but I really had no shame in stepping out of the occasional pose. Sometimes I even stepped into the hallway for a snack! LOL
IMO the most important task to knock out, if you will work after the baby comes, is to find a daycare. I am on the waitlist at seven centers and still don't have anything nailed down. So sooner is better!

Also check out Lucie's List. That's what I used to complete my registry. I like that everything was sectioned off by category and she gave different price points for items. I also like her weekly emails based on how far along you are helpful. That and Pregnant Chicken, is just funny!

Great point! I hope my prenatal yoga class follows through with our plan for play dates once we have our babies. I miss seeing everyone! ngdgtco

I'm an Excel lover so I basically made a spreadsheet with each category. Like Bathing - then had bath tub, toys, etc. And I would go thru and find which one of each item I wanted. Some of the stuff on the BRU list I don't plan to get but it at least helped me get organized! So then when I registered I basically walked around with my excel sheet Also, Lucie's List is good for some rec's. It's free to sign up on her website.
Sounds like I definitely need to check out ON,and MIL is a member at Costco so I might can check that out. I may just have to stick with DVDs for the yoga because I'm not sure of anywhere in town that even has regular yoga.

I think my town is in the minority about this. I started looking at daycares once I hit 2nd tri. We want an in home and I emailed a few places and they were all "you want daycare for February, 2015?? ^o)
Mmmmkay on to the next one! We did look at one center an they were fine with it but most places said I needed to wait until November to ask. Um that's when I'm due! Luckily FIL is watching babies for the first year so I don't have to worry yet but most said they won't know if they have an opening then.
I'm 26 weeks and still wearing my LLL yoga pants and just Target maternity tanks. I haven't felt the need for maternity ones yet.
Jeans I bought 2 pairs of Gap and 1 pair of Old navy ones, but its been so hot here since April I rarely wear them.
I just started going to prenatal yoga about a month ago and its been awesome, I thought it wouldn't be challenging but mine is! I break a sweat every time.

This is what every place I visited said, but I still needed to pay to get on their wait lists to save my place in line. I am due in three weeks and still don't know if he'll have a spot in daycare. (wilted)
Workout clothes: I had to buy new sports bras. I got them from Target. I got maternity yoga pants/capris from Old Navy. For running and gym I ended up buying Danskin workout shirts from WalMart in a larger size. I figured for $3 I would give them a try and they worked out well. I was able to use my regular running shorts (from Old Navy and target) up to eight months. I bought some clearance Target running shorts and some clearance Gap running shorts in a larger size. I am 40 weeks today. Had to stop running on Monday because I hurt my knee.
Jeans: Two pairs from Old Navy and One Pair from target.

Oh yes, I love Lucie's List! I like the weekly emails and her registry cheat sheet was really helpful.
