My culinary school sent out an email b/c a woman is looking to hire someone to help her 12yo son decorate a birthday cake. He took a baking class and wants to get into cake decorating and wants to start with a Mickey Mouse cake for his brother's birthday.
DS and DD2 are playing in her crib, post DD2's nap. I went in to get her up and she told me to "go away!". Rude.
It seems like 1/2 of my FB friends are on an awesome vacation right now (or Disney World, which may or may not be considered awesome ) Our summer outings yesterday were Petco and ChuckECheese. They were both pretty fun actually. Also empty b/c everyone in the state is on vacation.
DD1 has been staying with my parents, and they have done so many fun things. Museums, science center, Mt. Vernon. Meanwhile I'm at Urgent Care again. Wah. I need a vacation, and I'm not sure traveling to NJ next week counts.
Kyle again?
DD has blisters on her hands from the monkey bars. Do you suppose they make weightlifting gloves in kid sizes?
Yeah. He was able to get the stitches out but it is infected. He can swim in 2 more days and is counting down the hours.
We're moving DS into his toddler room tonight. I'm so nervous that this is going to mess up his beautiful predictable nighttime sleep. I do love how his truck-themed room turned out, though. He's going to love it!

Today is the first Friday that my mom is watching the baby. She will watch her every Friday. My mom is the best and I'm so excited that she gets to spend this time with her. My nieces ADORE my mom and it makes me feel all sappy that DD will build a great relationship with her.
So I posted a picture she sent to Facebook with a sappy caption about how they will grow into best friends and I worry that my MIL will get jealous. She is an awesome person so I know she wouldn't make a comment to me about it but I hope she knows that I don't mean that she and DD won't be close.
I ended up getting a very mild version of it - 102 degree fever Tue afternoon and Wednesday, sore throat (which is getting better today), and I have 5 blisters on my hands.
His fever started last Friday, with not feeling good on Thursday. Blisters started to appear Saturday AM I think? Or Friday night? He spent the weekend with his hands in ice water. His hands were COVERED. He had a few near his mouth, a couple in his mouth, and a few on the bottoms of his feet.
By Tuesday he was no longer in terrible pain. But his hands are still covered with flat/hard blisters. At least they're healing.
I'm sorry you have it!
Is HFM a newer disease? I swear I'd never heard of it until recently, from people with young kids. Your poor DH, that sounds awful
And holyfuck we are now really poor. Like, the poorest we have ever been in our lives. Between the downpayment and we're paying closing costs, ours savings will be down to 2%. ::breathes into a paper bag::

I'm not sure. My sisters are 22 & 23 and got it when they were toddlers. I never got it though.

My grandmother fed A without permission. I noticed she had hives on her face. Grandma said it was no big deal, MIL said sometimes teething causes it. Ok.
She vomits on me. Its orange. WTF? Finally grandma confesses once I say I need to call DH and find out if he fed A anything. Ughhhh.
DS gagged on his bottle last night and promptly threw up. He was fine. I cried.
I'm exhausted. DH was gone all week, got home last night, declared that he was on "baby duty", and then failed to wake up when DS got up in the MOTN. He did, however, manage to snore like a mofo and keep me up the rest of the time I wasn't dealing with DS.

I'm a little defensive after our pedi appointment. She asked if B was "talking a lot" to which I said "nope all he says is 'dat'" to which she says "but he says 'mama' and 'dada', right?"
No lady, he only says 'dat!'
I told her B did everything else late so I was not worried. She then says pointing was more important than talking anyway (B has been pointing hysterically all while we are talking.)
Then she says "you can tell he's really smart."
You can? Why does it matter? Maybe he's not smart. Leave my baby alone!

I would be livid - I'm sorry. What did she feed her??
The closing on our condo was pushed back to Monday instead of today; I'm going to be on pins and needles until it happens. Of course, this will likely mean the closing on our house will be pushed past the 18th as well, which SUCKS because we're crammed into my mom's house until we can move. And we've already hired the movers for next Saturday. Also, I accidentally packed all my bras and put them into storage. Oops! H is going to fetch them for me today. Also ALSO I have my annual review in a half hour and I hate annual reviews.

This is a big time vent so feel free not to read.
DH's grandfather died on Tuesday. He was ill so we knew it was coming. Well, today, I get tagged in a post on Facebook saying "Hey all, we (the cousins) want to surprise Grandma and give her some love by stopping by. Who can make it?" I responded twice that we could not. The cousins and the cousins' families consist of about 30 people.
We have no plans but I didn't say that. I just don't think it's a good idea. Show up, as a large group with small children included, at someone's house unannounced. Maybe I am projecting my own feelings here, but I would not want that many visitors nor would I want to feel like I had to entertain a group of people showing up right after my husband died. She has had a flood of people coming and going for over a month since he got sick.
After I responded, I got a phone call from the cousin asking if we could come. I said no again. THEN MIL CALLS. Wants to know why. I made DH talk to her. He explained that he didn't think the whole thing was a good idea, didn't want to drag our two young sons during their dinner and bedtime for this plan. What is Grandma didn't want visitors?
Now people are disappointed in us. Keep in mind we go to all other family functions. Do the rest of the cousins show up? Rarely. But the ONE TIME we say no, we are the bad guys.
DH and I had already planned on taking Grandma a meal and for a visit next week when the flood of visitors calmed down.
And don't even get me started on the plan that they are going to "Fork" her yard. Dear God.

Sweet potato. If she had asked first I would have probably been ok with it. But she tried to hide it from me. She does shit like this all the time. "I'm right here and we're driving safely. She doesn't need to be strapped in that tight" "I changed her just a second ago" no. She's soaking wet. They honestly love her and wouldn't want to harm her, they're just old and stupid sometimes.
My mom texted me earlier to tell me that my dad wants to fix something on our stairs gate this evening so can they bring dinner over? Of course I say fuck yeah, and we decide on Chipotle. Talk to mom on my way to pick up AJ and she's dropping my dad off at my house to work on the gate while she goes to Chipotle, so I pick AJ up and head home. We're hanging out with my dad when my mom gets back. And she had a Chipotle helper with her...my youngest sister! She lives in FL and is heading into the insane busy season of her job so she had told us all that she wouldn't be able to come up for AJ's party because her coworker is going out of town and this time of year they can't have two of them going out of town over the same weekend. We're used to it because that's the nature of her job so we were all a little sad but very eh, "it is what it is".
Until today, when she called my dad to tell him that one of AJ's presents should be getting delivered to their house any second...and then the doorbell rang. She flew up and took a taxi to their house Our other sister was the only one that knew. So yay! She's only in town until Sunday evening, but she's going to running group with me tomorrow and we're going to run some on our own before that so we'll get a little one on one time. I'm so glad both of my sisters will be here to celebrate the lovebug's birfday
I got a great hair cut tonight and my eyebrows waxed. We just ordered an iPad air (and got a good deal). I also got a great deal on a bunch of gift cards. I've bled money today but feel good about it.
FYI: if you have Kroger they have some good digital coupons for aeropostale, old navy, gap options, chipotle, and children's place gift cards.

Is he still playing?
Oh god no. He retired 2 years ago (3 years ago??) He was in canada for a golf tournament...
DS is standing and walking with push toys, which is just adorable to see. And he crawls all over the place like a madman. Tonight, he was crawling all over the driveway and sidewalk and I feel like his little knees have to hurt!
It's so amazing he is almost one year old. He is so much fun to be around - DH and I talk about how lucky we are every day!
Some random guy at work today went off on me today saying that he was having a crappy day because I didn't do my job but lied and said that I did. Except I have proof that I did it. And the call was recorded since he's a call center employee. And he yelled at me in retaliation for my coworker treating his coworker like crap. There is a little bit of tension between our departments right now. Despite being totally in the right and having management on my side, it made me feel like shit.
