So my EBF 8 month old has recently started solids. We started them at 6 months and we did just about a week of cereal just to get her used to textures and have since only done veggies and fruits and have abandoned all cereals.
All of a sudden recently she's going days without pooping. She used to poop daily before solids. But now its like 3 or 4 days without going. She passes tons of stinky gas along the way, but poop is very infrequent. When she does finally go, at its worst, its about peanut butter consistency.
So, given the consistency isn't really hard balls or anything, should I be concerned this is constipation? I suffer from constipation so I've always been on high alert for this because I suffered tremendously as a toddler. So any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated.
Yeah, this happened to us around 6.5 months. We called the doctor when he reached 4 days without going. They told us it was normal and not to worry unless it got to be 10 days without going. I believe the problem resolved itself on day 6. Now at 8 months he is a once a day kind of kid.
Same thing is happening right now with DD. She's almost 7 months and we just started solids. I figure it's her digestive system getting used to the new foods. Everything I've read says constipation means hard pebble poops so I haven't been too worried.
