Honestly, I would temp your next cycle and then you'll know when to start. With that being said, they usually have chart on the OPK box that says if your cycle is X days then start on Y day. I don't think they have the chart go up to 47 or 51 days but you can do the math.
Did you just recently come off hormonal birth control? I ask because when I did, it took several months to regulate. By the time I got pregnant with #1 (6 months after BC), I was at 25 day cycles, but the first two cycles were 45ish days.
I can definitely understand not wanting to waste opks, so I'd temp and give your body some time to regulate, if you did just come off BC.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

FF is really easy to use, especially now that there's an app! I just enter the data, and it tells me when it thinks I ovulated. The more data you enter, like CM, etc., the better it is at knowing.

Thanks achi! This long cycle thing was awesome until I decided to TTC, now its it bit discouraging.
You're welcome. TTC is a lot of waiting, peeing on sticks, more waiting, more peeing over and over again. I could see how having such a long cycle would be really frustrating.
@scm101- I would temp one cycle then try OPKs the following cycle.
If you wanted to start using OPKs sooner then I would start 16 days before your shortest cycle. (The shortest you have was 47-16= 31, I would start on CD 31 and go from there.
My cycles range from 33-40 days each. Long cycles are hard when your TTC.
