It seems there are a bunch of people on MM who live here but don't post on the local board. Anyone know what the deal is? Are they lurking or not even reading? Is there some sort of feud or were they just on TK/TN at different times so it's different friends groups?

Hi!
I don't post on MM (they freak me out!) But I do post on the politics board.
I guess I don't post here because I never got in the habit before the big move. Since then, this board has been delightfully busy, but I never saw my 'in'... So I guess it's now.
Intro!
I'm Chris. I used to be alkibride on the knot, as I got married on Alki beach (wow. Clever!).
I live now in the 'bad' part of West Seattle. Favorite pizza: Proletariat in White Center.
Two delightful kids. The older one starts kindergarten in the fall, and I have war stories of the school district to prove it.
We have a dog and four laying hens. My H works for a large local aerospace company in IT.
I'm currently drinking lemonade my daughter made, with a nice hit of vodka in it.

Welcome mominatrix! I have a daughter entering 1st grade and we had some discussions on thenest about Seattle schools. Can you tell me how you taught your daughter to mix drinks??

...july twenty-something, and we still don't know what school she's going to in six weeks, so I deserve vodka!
I was actually teaching her how to make lemonade... It's become her favorite drink, and she figured out the three ingredients, so we bought lemons and had at it. The vodka was.a later, adult, addition. We'll teach her about that after she's done with kindergarten... Much...
Reminds me of the friend who taught her dog to get her beer from the fridge (she left a dish towel in the handle). Kids are almost as handy! :-)
Lol, eh, teach'em young how to make drinks and they can bartend for extra cash when they hit 21. Welcome mominatrix! (love the name). My ILs live in West Seattle about 2 blocks from the WC line

Funny! We're near SCCC. We joke that it's the ghetto of WS.

Welcome mominatrix!.... I know that I personally don't have time to keep up with more than one board. I love H&F but can't keep up with them and you guys. You guys win.

Ditto. I love H&F and the beauty board but I just can't keep up. I do lurk them though.

I used to think that there was some sort of feud or that some of them didn't like us....
I remember back on TN there was on poster....who would come over here and cause trouble (you can prob figure out who I am talking about)....then she would go back to MM and talk trash and since she was a reg there, they would totally be on her side...and I think some of the peeps on "her side" were seattle posters too....
Who knows what the deal is now. I know that we have tried to be welcoming in that past....even to the trouble maker. Who knows.
It's prob just like others said... that it is too hard to keep up with several boards. And prob not much else.
But also maybe because we are rainbows and unicorns and they can be snarky sometimes i think. obviously that's an over generalized claim....not trying to slam.
Lol, I don't think there was a "feud" between us and that person, I don't even remember why she didn't fit in on our board--- but that's exactly what it is...some people just don't "fit"....and we're a tighter knit board, with more heartfelt answers, whereas places like MM or any other fast-moving national boards, most the time (not always), their responses are shorter and too the point, simply bc they have sooooo many posts to read, which can be conceived as rude- On this board, I would say about 80% of us know each other IRL, so we care more about each of our posts, as well as the people behind each post. The boards just have a different vibe. Some like fast paced, some like slow. And as "fast" as we think our board is....try following the nat'l boards! We aint got nuthin'. Our board is probably boring.
