I'm currently driving home from a mini vacay (work trip for DH) and we are going through Mennonite country. It's so fascinating to me. I couldn't do it for a week and they always live, willingly, without any modern conveniences.
Also, taking a 2.5 week old baby and a toddler on holidays is exhausting.
omg yes. There is no place that is child proof; you are there with maybe 3 toys, too much noise/stimulation, too much crap to eat, NO schedule, and half of what YOU need to make their lives livable. Not enough diapers, or you're out of wipes, or you forgot the diaper cream, or what ever. I hated 'vacationing' with little kids.
Truth. The biggest issue is the toddler wouldn't nap well, so he was a jerk by dinner time. And trying to do stuff around the newborns nap schedule.
We rarely vacationed with DS. And I have a feeling we won't much now that we have 2 kids until they're a bit older. I posted over on travel about where to take them this winter and now I'm trying to figure out who can watch them so we can go without them. Lol.
@jle it makes me cry. There's a moment at the end a bit about parenting, and I'm a huge softy for that type of thing. I just thought the way they brought a theme of the movie full circle to that moment was cool.
I just finished recording 33 minutes of audio for a computer based training class for work. I really hate the recorded sound of my voice. I don't think it sounds like me at all. Then again, I recognize that while I'm speaking into the microphone that the tone of my voice was different than how i just speak normally. Part of that I'm sure is trying to enunciate and avoid any hint of an accent. Maybe my instructors won't recognize my voice. ;-)

Thanks for totally spoiling it for me. I haven't seen it yet.

Hey, I didn't spoil anything! I just said it's a bit about parenting and they did a good job with it. You'll still dig it.

Do you know the Seinfeld episode where George wanted to listen to audio books because he wanted a nicer sounding voice than his "head voice"? Then when he got an audio book and the voice reading it was his own. lol
