My husband is currently wearing his BRIGHT blue and yellow soccer shirt from high school. With green and brown plaid pants. I told him that all has to go before our friends get here.
Another German household. My H invited a couple friends over. I think he is actually nervous. He has been a Germanh World Cup fan since he was a little boy. No ties to Germany. He just loves their soccer team. Kiddo and I are playing on the balcony so we can hear the score. If there is one.

Not prepping as the game is on. And I'm another American living in Germany.
Though, I am at a disadvantage as my German language skills suck and I'm watching the game on a local cable channel. So, I have to actually pay attention to be able to follow the game.
Go Deutschland! It will be so cool if/when they win. The excitement here will be incredible to witness!

I want to flash forward to the end of the game. The suspense is too much!
My husband is freaking out.
It's me and my dog. DH is an early riser and not into sports. DS is five and has been fast asleep for the last three hours. I'm hoping that he'll stay that way.

Awww ... Too bad we're not in the are anymore. My daughter is five.

That is too bad! He turned five on Friday.
Does your daughter attend kindergarten? My son does and it's a great experience for him.
I missed what happened a minute ago. Did security drag someone off the field?

There was a streaker.
Yes, Harper goes to kindergarten. Her dad is German, though, so language isn't an issue. She'll go to first grade in fall 2015.
Yah, I guess the language isn't an issue given Harper's situation! Grant is operating at a disadvantage. I studied Spanish in middle school, high school and college. Precious little it's doing for me now.
We are moving home early next year. We could enroll Grant in the American school on base, but we've decided to keep him in his current kindergarten until we move. I want him to absorb as much German before we move, but also to maintain the friendships and routines that he has. Change is difficult for him. I don't think that six months in a new school only to move again would serve him enough good to make up for the challenges. I'll work with him at home on American curriculum. I'm going to see if he can participate in the Regenboden

It is really cool how my entire neighborhood erupted in a street party! Horns, fireworks, cheers, singing! It is really something else to see the collective excitement of a World Cup championship first hand!
I totally woke my two year old up with my screaming.
Poor kiddo! It's all for a good reason, though!
Silly question. Will Monday be a (kind of) normal day? Will there just be lots of tired Germans going to work and school tomorrow? I know, silly. But this is a rather big deal!

We will all be hungover. My boss is on vacation, but Harper will probably still be expecting me to get her to Kindergarten and shit. Ugggghhh ....
